When it comes sandwiches, you can never go wrong with easy. That is exactly what this Turkey Melt is!
This is a great sandwich that you can make for lunch or dinner and you can absolutely customize it to your liking.
With pickles, cheese, turkey, tomatoes and spread – this is a tasty recipe without being too over the top.
Since Thanksgiving is fast approaching it is a great way to use up that leftover turkey, but we love this all year long with just sliced deli turkey as well.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST):
Sliced turkey deli meat
Sandwich bread (I used sourdough)
Salted butter
Provolone cheese
Cheddar cheese
Roma tomatoes
Pickle spears, sliced
Mayonnaise
Dijon mustard
HOW TO MAKE A TURKEY MELT, STEP BY STEP:
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Spread mayo and Dijon onto the unbuttered sides of the bread.
- Build the sandwich, placing the bottom slice of bread butter-side down, layering a slice of provolone and cheddar, then the turkey, then the tomato and pickle slices, then the remaining slices of cheese and the top bread slice, butter-side up.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat, place sandwich in pan, cook for 2-3 or until golden brown then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until bottom bread is toasted.
- Remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 1 additional minute to melt the cheese.
WHAT OTHER TOPPINGS CAN I USE ON THIS TURKEY MELT:
You can absolutely add more toppings to your Turkey Melt, these are just ones we usually have on hand. Some other ideas include:
- Bacon
- Spinach
- Lettuce
- Kale
- Green Onions
- Red Onions
CAN I USE OTHER TYPES OF CHEESE?
Yes, absolutely! We used a mixture of cheddar and provolone for this recipe. Some other good cheeses that you can use include: Havarti, Gruyere, Muenster, American, etc.
Use your favorite, or whatever you think will compliment the sandwich itself.
WHAT OTHER BREAD CAN I USE?
I like this sandwich with a sturdy bread like sourdough, but that isnโt your only option.
Multigrain, French, Italian, whole wheat, texas toast, country loaf, etc.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH A TURKEY MELT:
Since this is just a sandwich, you obviously will want to serve some things with it, at least I know that I love to! Some ideas include:
- Potato Chips
- French Fries
- Soups
- Grilled Vegetables
- Coleslaw
- Fresh Fruit
- Mac and Cheese
The list can go on and on, there is really never anything that you can’t serve with this recipe!
HOW TO STORE:
While this is best served fresh, you can store in the refrigerator where it will keep for up to 3 days.
We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
To reheat, you can place in a toaster oven, air fryer or oven just until heated through.
