Coleslaw is like a religion in our house. It is pretty much on the side of our plate whenever we grill out. Doesn’t matter if it’s brats, ribs, burgers, pulled pork, etc. this is one of the recipes that is a staple in this family.
Side dishes are super important and when you can whip up something that is quick and easy, then it is even better. This whips up in under 5 minutes with no chilling required.

It is not too sweet, not bland, not tangy, just the perfect mixture of flavors. Plus when I say that you don’t have to chill it you really don’t, the flavors don’t need to marry, and you can serve right away, although it still would be perfectly fine chilled.
HOW TO MAKE THIS EASY COLESLAW, STEP BY STEP:
Add your coleslaw mix to a medium bowl. In another bowl add your mayo, sugar, lemon juice, cider vinegar, celery seed, salt and pepper (Photos 1 & 2).
Mix your sauce ingredients together until fully combined then pour over coleslaw mixture in bowl and toss until everything is coated (Photos 3-4).
I mean seriously, when I say the sis Easy Coleslaw, this is easy coleslaw. You could absolutely buy the bottled stuff from the store if you would like, but what is the satisfaction in that really?
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Use pre-bagged coleslaw mixture, it saves time and effort rather than shredding your own.
- You do not need to chill this recipe, but if you would like to you are more than welcome to, we don’t like to chill ours because coleslaw seems to get soupy when it sit’s too long.
- Add as little or as much sugar or vinegar as you like to your preference, the ratios we give in the recipe is to our liking, but can easily be adjusted.
- Serve on top of pulled pork or alongside and grilling recipe.

Easy Coleslaw
Ingredients
- 1 16 oz bag tri-color coleslaw mix
- 2/3 cup mayo
- 4-5 Tbs sugar
- 1 Tbs lemon juice
- 2 1/2 Tbs cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp celery seed
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Add your coleslaw mix to a medium bowl and set aside.
- In smaller bowl add in your mayo, sugar, lemon juice, cider vinegar, celery seed, salt & pepper and whisk until smooth.
- Pour over coleslaw mix and stir until coated.
