WHAT IS SOUVLAKI?
Souvlaki is essentially marinated pork, chicken, beef or lamb that is skewered and grilled or cooked over a rotisserie.
You can serve it many ways, on the skewer, in pitas, sometime in Gyros and more.
The marinade can vary but the essential ingredients used contain: oil, lemon juice, garlic and oregano. Other spices and herbs can be used as well.
HOW LONG DOES THIS HAVE TO MARINATE?
For the best results and have the flavors marry, you will want to marinate this Chicken Souvlaki Recipe for at least 30-60 minutes, longer if you prefer.
This gives the chicken enough time to absorb the flavors from the marinade before it cooks.
CAN I USE ANOTHER MEAT?
Yes, like stated above Souvlaki can be pork, chicken beef or lamb. The only difference may be the marinade that you will be using.
If you choose to use a different meat, check out other recipes that use that meat to see what they marinade it in.
