- This serves a crowd and is a family favorite.
- The flavors all mixed together work so well with one another.

Garlic powder
Onion powder
Kosher salt
Black pepper
Cayenne pepper
Boneless skinless chicken breasts
Bacon
Fresh chopped parsley for garnish, optional
HOW TO MAKE BROWN SUGAR BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN, STEP BY STEP:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Spray 2 9×13-inch baking dishes with non-stick cooking spray, set aside.
- In a large shallow bowl stir together the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
- One at a time, place each chicken breast into the brown sugar mixture to coat the outside, making sure to gently press the mixture in so it sticks to the chicken.
- Repeat with remaining chicken and place three coated pieces of chicken into one of the baking dish and three into the other.
- Wrap each chicken breast with two slices of bacon, make sure to tuck the ends under the chicken. Place it back into the baking dish and repeat with the remaining chicken and bacon.
- Try to make sure that the chicken breasts are not touching each other in the baking dishes, this helps that they do not get stuck together and the bacon will get crispy.
- Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar mixture over top of each piece of chicken.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, until the bacon is browned and an internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. If the chicken is done but the bacon isnโt browned enough, turn on the broiler and broil on high until you reach your desired brownness. Watch carefully as it will burn.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with parsley if desired and serve.
CAN I USE CHICKEN THIGHS?
Yes! You can use chicken thighs if you prefer to have a smaller and darker cut of meat. You will need about 12 chicken thighs for this recipe.
They will also cook faster, so I would check for doneness around the 15 minute mark if choosing to use the thighs over the chicken breasts.
DO I HAVE TO COAT THE CHICKEN IN BROWN SUGAR?
No, if you do not want to have the chicken itself coated in the brown sugar you do not have to. You can season with salt and pepper or other seasonings if you’d like.
If you choose not to coat the chicken you will have a lot of the brown sugar leftover, you can use that all for the topping or cut it in half so you do not have so much.
DOES THE CAYENNE MAKE THIS SPICY?
There is just a tiny bit of spiciness from the cayenne but not much, so it is super kid friendly and you don’t have to worry about the spiciness of the chicken.
If you do not want to use the cayenne you do not have to, or you can use more if you do want to give this more of a kick and your family likes things more on the spicy side.
DO I HAVE TO USE TWO PANS?
It is my suggestion that you use two pans for this recipe. We want to make sure that the bacon crisps up and cooks evenly and we do not want the chicken to be touching when cooking.
WHAT CAN I SERVE WITH BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?
There are so many great things that you can serve with this chicken recipe, some of our favorites include:
- Mac and cheese
- Steemed vegetables
- Salad
- Baked potato
- Fried potatoes
- Corn on the cob
Bacon and chicken go with so many great things, so I say serve it up with any of your favorite side dishes.
HOW TO STORE:
This chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where it will keep for up to 3 days.
You can also freeze this, to do that place in a freezer container or bag and it will keep frozen for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator overnight until thawed. To reheat place back in the oven at 350 degrees until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Use some of the pan drippings to drizzle over the top for some more flavor.
- Make sure you DO NOT use thick cut bacon.
- You can use chicken thighs for this recipe, see above on how to do that.
- Use some of your other favorite seasonings in the brown sugar mixture such as cajun seasoning or BBQ seasoning.
- Make sure that the internal temperature is 165 degrees F.
- If your bacon is not as crisp as you like it, you can broil it on high until it is. Just keep an eye on it or it will burn.
