DO I HAVE TO USE COD?
No you do not have to use cod, it is super easy to find and makes a great fish stick. You can also use Alaska Pollock, tilapia, haddock and halibut if you want to.
You just want to make sure that you use a white fish for this recipe!
WHY DO YOU SPRAY THEM IN THE AIR FRYER?
Spraying the fish sticks before baking helps the crust crisp up and brown while they are cooking. If you did not do this then you would end up with some lackluster fish sticks.
CAN I BAKE THESE?
Absolutely, if you do not own an air fryer but still want to make these Air Fryer Fish Sticks you can make them in the oven as well.
Follow all directions up to before placing them in the air fryer. You will want to place them on a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for 15-18 minutes, turning halfway through.
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 3-4 days.
They can also be frozen cooked or uncooked. If you are freezing before cooking coat and bread your fish sticks and place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and into the freezer for an hour until frozen solid.
Once frozen, remove and place in a freezer container and they will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. You can cook these from frozen adding a couple minutes to cook time or defrost in the refrigerator overnight.
To freeze after cooking, let cool and place them in a freezer container where again they will last for up to 3 months. Remove to refrigerator overnight to defrost.
Reheat in the oven at 350 for about 10 minutes until heated through.
