Cooked low and slow and with minimal ingredients these Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches are a perfect family meal, party staple or game day grub!
Are you a lover of spicy things? I am to an extent, I won’t go like the hottest pepper flavor in the world but I love myself some good Buffalo Chicken from time to time.
Especially when it comes to these Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches. Now these babies are the perfect heat preference for me, not too hot but they have just the right amount of kick to them.
These have been a family favorite for so long that I don’t even remember how long we have been making them. These are a year round favorite for us. Especially when we don’t want to turn on the oven.
The slow cooker is one of my favorite kitchen appliances that we use a lot around the house because we love meals that we can just fix and forget about.
No keeping an eye on the stove, no hurrying to get dinner on the table, because you can just put it together and you know when it will be done, that is why these Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches are served a lot around here.
Top them with some ranch, hot sauce and blue cheese crumbles and you really do have yourself a fun, flavorful sandwich that the whole family enjoys.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT BOTTOM):
Chicken breasts
Dried ranch dressing mix
Buffalo wing sauce
Hamburger buns
Ranch dressing, for serving
Blue cheese crumbles, for serving
You really truly can’t get much easier than those ingredients! They are super easy to find at your local grocer which is nice because it makes for an easy recipe.
And you guys all know how I am with my easy recipes! The easier the better, just because they don’t have a ton of ingredients does not make them any less tasty!
HOW TO MAKE SLOW COOKER BUFFALO CHICKEN SANDWICHES, STEP BY STEP:
- Place the chicken breasts into the bottom of the slow cooker. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix on top of the chicken.
- Pour ยฝ cup of the buffalo sauce on top. Cover the slow cooker and let it cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- Shred the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Add another ยผ cup of buffalo sauce and stir it to mix it in. Taste and add more buffalo sauce to your taste.
- Place the chicken on the brioche buns. Top with more buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and blue cheese crumbles, serve immediately.
WHAT KIND OF BUFFALO WING SAUCE SHOULD I USE?
So our favorite and go-to has always been Franks. But you really can use ay of your favorite brands out there. If you’ve gone to the grocery store lately, there are so many to choose from.
You could literally change up the whole flavor profile of this sandwich if you wanted to just by choosing a buffalo wing sauce that has a little something extra.
Like I always say, go crazy, have fun and really make it your own. Just because we do it one way does not meal that you have to!
WHAT ARE THE BEST BUNS TO USE?
When I’m serving a saucy sandwich or one that I know has potential to get the buns soggy from the moisture and toppings I always default to brioche buns.
I feel like brioche is a nice and sturdy bun that not only has great flavor but soaks up liquids really well without breaking apart or getting too soggy themselves.
CAN I MAKE THESE IN THE INSTANT POT?
If you are looking for a quicker way to make these other than in the slow cooker you can absolutely make them in the instant pot!
To do that you will want to add everything in the instant pot (all of the buffalo wing sauce) plus about 1/2 cup of water or chicken broth. Seal and lock the lid and then manual cook for 15 minutes. Do a natural release then remove lid and shred the chicken adding more sauce and stirring in.
Assemble your sandwiches and enjoy!
WHAT TO SERVE WITH BUFFALO CHICKEN SANDWICHES:
There are a variety of things that you can serve with these sandwiches some of our favorites include:

- Salad

HOW TO STORE:
Stored in an airtight container or zip top bag this will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. It can also be frozen, to freeze place in freezer bag in the freezer and it will keep for up to 4 months.
Let defrost in the refrigerator and then you can warm up in the microwave until heated through.
