HOW TO HEAT TREAT FLOUR:
Homemade Edible Cookie Dough you will need to heat treat your flour, this ensures that any bacteria in raw flour is cooked out.
To heat treat flour what you need to do is pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F. Spread your flour on large cookie sheet and heat in oven for about 7-10 minutes until the flour reaches 160 degrees F.
This temperature is sufficient enough to kill off any bacteria that has accumulated in the flour itself. You can also microwave it, checking the temperature every so often.
HOW TO STORE:
This can be stored in the refrigerator for about one week covered in bowl or you can transfer it to a ziptop baggie as well.
It getโs harder at cooler temps so I would let sit at room temp to soften up before consuming.
To freeze, we like to separate into smaller sized ziptop baggies because it gives us equal portions and it should stay safe in the freezer for at least a month.
Again, you can defrost this in the refrigerator then move to room temperature or just room temperature to thaw out quicker to consume.
Can I let you in on a little secret? We make this at least once a month, well multiple types of edible cookie dough.
