Have a sweet tooth? This quick and easy Funfetti Edible Cookie Dough makes the perfect snack any time of day, minimal ingredients and the kids love it.
If you are anything like me, growing up and still to this day I was always addicted to raw cookie dough.
When my mom used to make cookies when I was young she would get mad at me and my dad for stealing bites before she was able to bake the cookies.
But times change and there is always that concern of getting sick from raw eggs or flour so we came up with a great alternative that tastes just as great!
So one of our favorite cakes is funfetti so obviously we wanted to make it into edible cookie dough. With the addition of sprinkles and some white chocolate chips you have yourself a delicious munchie option.
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU NEED?
-
Heat treated flour (instructions below)
-
Butter
-
Sugar
-
Salt
-
Milk
-
Vanilla
-
Almond extract
-
White chocolate chips
-
Sprinkles
So I’m going to be honest, adults like this. I made it for New Years and even my adult neighbor was ecstatic as a little school girl about me bringing cookie dough to our get together.
I think it was mainly a childhood thing, if you grew up in the days where there was no issue eating the real raw stuff you just crave it like no other.
I will admit that there has been a time or two when I bough rolls of cookie dough from the store, curled up on the couch, turned on Netflix and just went to town on that beast.
Not my proudest moment, but one of my happiest.
How do you heat treat flour?
-
Preheat oven to 350.
-
Spread 2 cups of flour on a large cookie sheet.
-
Heat in oven for about 7-10 minutes until the temperature of the flour reaches 160.
-
This should heat it enough to kill any bacteria in the flour.
Heat treating is really easy, and this edible cookie dough recipe makes a huge batch which you can easily cut in half if you just want something that you can manage in one sitting, not saying that you cant manage this amount but you never know.
We like making this size because we have a huge family of cookie dough lovers and if we made a smaller batch it wouldn’t last very long or we would have some mad kids because they didn’t get any because mom and dad ate all of it.
So we can just say that so many versions of edible cookie dough go down in my house at any given time.
HOW TO MAKE EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH:
-
In large bowl beat together your butter, sugar and salt until light and fluffy.
-
Add in your extracts and milk and beat until incorporated.
-
Add in your flour and beat until combined.
-
Fold in your chocolate chips and sprinkles and serve.
How much more easy can this edible sugar cookie dough recipe get? I mean seriously, little work and effort?
Now I don’t really recommend storing this in your refrigerator for too long because it can get quite hard when cooled.
If you do want to store it then you will need to let it come to room temp before you want to devour.
So if you are looking for a fun recipe that the kids can help make and eat than this Funfetti Edible Cookie Dough is just what you have been looking for!

Tastes amazing and is easy to do a half batch. I did skip putting in the white chips though, because the cookie dough was for my grandma. We got some edible cookie from Walmart and my grandma wanted me to make some homemade instead of bought. Love this, tastes AWESOME and looks pretty. Thank you so much!!
Sam
Havenโt made it yet excited to though! Is there a replacer you can use for butter because we are out of it right now?
Tornadough Alli
There is not unfortunately, not that I have came across.

Oh no, i skipped reading the part about not refrigerating! I came back to see what to do cuz i put a layer of this incredible cookie dough on top of a cheesecake and now i canโt dig into it cuz the cookie dough is hard! ๐ฃ
Do i need to set out for a little bit of time?
Thanks for sharing!
Tornadough Alli
Yes, let it sit out at room temperature and it should soften up for you!

Hi there! Love this recipe! Just wondering if you need to let the flour cool after heat treating it before you add it to the recipe?
Thank you!
Tornadough Alli
I would, just a little bit, it might make the dough a little more wet if it was added warm, I’ll add that to the recipe ๐
Maddy Bell
Do you have to use almond extract??
I donโt have any but still want to make this recipe.
Tornadough Alli
It’s not necessary, I just like the flavor, you can use vanilla.
Erin
Can U skip heating the flour???
Tornadough Alli
You can, a lot of people are nervous they will get sick if they eat raw flour, but it is not necessary.
