Filled with oats, peanut butter, chocolate chips and M&M’s these easy Monster Cookies are the best, softest and chewiest cookies around.
Summer is finally here, kids are out of school around here and cookies are on their mind. You have to whip up what I like to call The Best Monster Cookies ever. Literally, so addicting, they unfortunately don’t last long.
We love cookies around this house and alongside these we also love Nutella Cookies, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies and these fun and simple Sprinkles Cookies.
Monster Cookies are one of the most requested cookies in our house. We’ve been making them for years, they are a classic and everyone says that they are so good.
I’ve shared a Monster Cookie Recipe in the past, but that one was more tailored to halloween and were actual “Monster Cookies”. The kids loved them and thought they were fun.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
- Butter
- Brown sugar
- Peanut butter
- Egg
- Vanilla
- Baking soda
- Cornstarch
- Oats
- Chocolate chips
- M&M’s
These cookies are filled with ALL the good stuff. Kids absolutely adore these cookies. They don’t last long like I said, we like to also give them as gifts because everyone always asks me to make them!
Some common questions that I get about Monster Cookies include:
HOW TO FREEZE MONSTER COOKIES:
These cookies can absolutely be frozen. You can freeze the cookie itself as well as the unbaked dough as well.
To freeze baked cookies, full bake and cool cookies and then layer them in a ziploc bag with layers separated with a piece of parchment paper. They will keep in the freezer for about 3 months.
To freeze the dough, make your cookies according to directions (do not bake). Roll into balls and place side by side on a baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour.
Remove from freezer and then place in a ziploc bag and squeeze out all remaining air. The dough should keep well in the freezer for about 6-8 weeks.
HOW TO MAKE SOFT MONSTER COOKIES:
-
Pre-heat oven to 350.
-
In large bowl cream together your sugar and butter until fluffy.
-
Mix in your eggs and vanilla until combined, then mix in your peanut butter.
-
In separate bowl whisk together your flour, baking soda and cornstarch until combined.
-
With spatula, fold in your oats, chocolate chips and M&M’s.
-
By heaping tablespoonfuls (2 Tbs per cookie) place dough onto cookie sheet.
-
Bake for 13-15 minutes or until slightly golden on top, but still soft in the middle.
-
Remove from oven and let cool on pan for about 5 minutes then transfer to cooling wrack to cool completely.
Some other questions that we get are “Do I use quick oats or old fashioned oats”? The choice is up to you, we use old fashioned in our recipe, we like the bigger texture of them.
If you use quick cooking oats they won’t spread as much and will be more tall rather than wide, but if that’s the type of cookie you are wanting, go ahead and do it! I’m all about experimentation.
Another great thing about this recipe is NO CHILLING REQUIRED! I’ll be the first to admit, I hate having to chill cookie dough before baking it.
It just seems like it takes forever and I wan’t my cookies right away. I mean why do I want to wait an hour for dough to chill? I know that in other recipes there are benefits to it, but these Monster Cookies, you don’t have to worry about that.
This Monster Cookie Recipe is literally the easiest things ever, probably why they fill up our cookie jar the majority of the time. We restock it about once a month, thats how popular they are in our house.
I think it’s the flavor of everything that goes into the recipe is really what hooks us, some of our other Monster Cookie theme recipes include, Monster Cookie Dough Dip, Monster Cookie Cheesecake and these Monster Fudge Bars!
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- We like to use 2 Tbs of dough in each of our cookies, you can do less or more to your liking, just watch the cookies in the oven as the baking time will need to be adjusted.
- Press some extra chocolate chips and M&M’s on the top of the cookies right when they come out of the oven, it makes they more visually appealing and you get more of the good stuff in there.
- Switch it up and use chunky peanut butter instead of creamy, add some extra peanuty crunch in each and every bite.
If you are looking for that perfect cookie recipe that the kids (an adults, not gonna lie) go wild for, you need to whip up a batch of The Best Monster Cookies! You won’t be sorry!

Made these cookies today, They are SO yummy, The only change I made was I added a handful of peanut butter chips. The flavor of the cookies is great. They are soft and chewy. The only thing I noticed (and it’s already been pointed out in the comments) is that in the actual printed recipe it doesn’t list how many eggs. Would be helpful to make that note in the recipe so that it prints with the correct information. These cookies were a big hit and I’m definitely keeping this recipe to make them again!

How many eggs. Eggs not listed in the ingredient lis. One part says egg,, and in the directions, it’s say’s eggs, 1 or 2 eggs?
Tornadough Alli
Itโs one egg, thanks for catching that. Such a habit to write plural
