Chocolate, cream cheese and Oreos make these Easy Oreo Truffles a delicious holiday treat, potluck favorite, tasty snack or just all around easy dessert recipe!
Oreo Truffles are one of those recipes that I grew up with. I almost don’t know anyone who HASN’T tried an Oreo Truffle. Or also known ask Oreo Balls.
I like the name truffle better because it sounds more fancy, even now these aren’t fancy at all and are one of the easiest things ever! Literally whips up in less than 30 minutes with chill time!
We love Truffles around here and not just these Oreo Truffles, you have to try our Tiramisu Truffles (a huge hit) and our Peanut Butter Chocolate Truffles (match made in heaven).
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With only 3 ingredients this recipe is super easy to whip up.
- You can easily double or triple this batch to make more for your gatherings or just to have because.
- They can easily be frozen for later consumption
- They are perfect for holiday gift giving!
Let’s just face it, any recipes that have Oreos in them are amazing, some of my favorites include: No Bake Oreo Cheesecake, Oreo Fluff and these Oreo Krispies!
HOW TO MAKE OREO TRUFFLES, STEP BY STEP:
- In food processor add your Oreos until you have crumbs, you may need to do this in batches.
- Add your crumbs and your cream cheese to the bowl of a stand mixer and beat with paddle attachment until combined.
- Using a smaller cookie scoop grab your truffle filling and roll into balls.
- Place onto a lined baking sheet and place in freezer for about 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile melt white chocolate candiquik in microwave according to package directions, stirring until smooth.
- Once smooth and melted, remove your truffles from freezer and dip each one individually into melted candiquick, coating fully, place back on baking sheet and sprinkle with extra oreo crumbs if desired and let set up.
See how super simple that is! I mean these are one of the most requested treats at holiday parties. Now they don’t have to be seasonal at all.
We love to give gift baskets throughout the year, and these are always one of the treats that we sneak into them, everyone seems always appreciative.
HOW LONG WILL OREO TRUFFLES LAST?
These will last in the refrigerator for up to one month and in the freezer for up to 4 months. You should store in an airtight container such as a ziplock bag or a Tupperware container, which we like to separate our balls with a little bit of parchment paper.
CAN OREO TRUFFLES BE MADE AHEAD OF TIME?
Yes, 100%. Like we said before, we like to give these as gifts and they can be made within the month as long as they are refrigerated. They need refrigeration because they have cream cheese in them.
Since they have cream cheese and chocolate is prone to melting, refrigeration or freezing is really necessary for this recipe.
WHAT KIND OF CHOCOLATE TO USE:
For this recipe, we have always really relied on white chocolate candiquik, its fast to melt and stays melted a long time.
You can also use high quality white chocolate, white chocolate melting wafers or almond bark. All should work fine for these Oreo Truffles, as long as you melt them according to package directions.
There are a lot of different variations of this Oreo Truffle Recipe that you can do. More or less topping wise, I’ve seen also mint Oreos used as well.
Some people like to drizzle milk or semi-sweet chocolate over the top, and we have done this as well, whatever you do, these truffles will still be 100% amazing and addicting.
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR MAKING EASY OREO TRUFFLES:

- Save some Oreo crumbs for the topping.
- You can make it all in a food processor instead of moving to a stand mixer, just make sure that the food processor is a workhorse and can handle mixing a thicker filling.
