When it comes to desserts you can’t get any simpler than these Easy Cookie Cups! With only 3 ingredients, not only are they tasty, they are fun!
Cookie Cups are one of my favorite lazy day desserts to make. One, because we always seem to have a package of cookie dough lying around and 2 they are simple to make.
What I like about Cookie Cups is that they are pretty much endless when it comes to flavor combinations. You can make your own dough if you like, but in this house we went with pre-made.
Sorry to say, but we don’t always rely on homemade stuff in this house, this whole recipe pretty much is pre-made and that is just fine.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With only 3 ingredients it is super simple to whip up.
- It is quick and easy and you can pretty much use any flavors you like.
- They make large servings so a little goes a long way with this recipe.
I’m just going to tell you straight out, recipes like these Easy Cookie Cups are fun for the whole family, they are super easy for kids to make with you.
I like to regularly get my kids in the kitchen with me and we like to start with easy recipes, and when they are just learning to bake this is the perfect one.
HOW TO MAKE COOKIE CUPS, STEP BY STEP:
- Cut your 16 oz cookie dough into 12 equal portions and roll them into balls.
- Place balls in a 12 count muffin tin and bake at 350 for 15-17 minutes until lightly golden and center seems done.
- Remove from oven and using a small item like a teaspoon, press the middle down to indent the center.
- Let cool slightly in pan before removing to completely cool on wire rack, fill center with frosting and top with sprinkles.
I don’t even have to reiterate to you how easy this recipe is do I? I didn’t think so.
WHAT KIND OF COOKIE DOUGH DO I USE?
For general Cookie Cups like these, we like to use sugar cookie dough, but you can use any kinds that you like!
We have also used peanut butter cookie dough and filled with chocolate frosting as well. Chocolate chip cookie dough also works well with the chocolate filling.
If you really really are into chocolate, then you can use a chocolate cookie dough, thats a little overload for me, I’m not a huge chocolate on chocolate person, but if you like rich, there you go!
CAN I MAKE THESE IN A MINI MUFFIN TIN?
If you are looking for smaller serving sizes then yes absolutely you can make these in a mini muffin tin instead. We have on several occasions.
Just split your dough into 24 (that is the normal cavity size for a mini muffin tin) and roll into balls just like you would this recipe.
You will cut the baking time down because they are smaller they will bake up faster, so keep an eye on that, I would say about 10-12 minutes for mini versions of these Cookie Cups.
This Cookie Cup Recipe we use store bought frosting, we usually go with a milk chocolate, it’s just the way we roll, but if you aren’t feeling chocolate or you want to make your own here are some of my favorite homemade frosting recipes that work well with this dough.
There are so many different options for this recipe that it isn’t even funny. I’ll be having a Lemon version of this recipe to my other site Bakerish in a few days!
If you love family inclusive recipes these Cookie Cups are just what you are looking for, fun, flavorful and so easy. My kids ask me to make these all the time, hence why we always have cookie dough on hand.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Use a standard 12 well muffin tin.
- We like to use non-stick cooking spray with flour in it, it helps get these out easier.
- You do not need to mold the balls into the wells, they will take on the shape of the tins themselves
- These will come out of the oven a little indented in the middle, we still like to press them down more.
- Make sure that the center is fully cooked, if you pull them out and the center looks a little wet after pressing them in, stick back in oven for a few minutes.
- Let them only cool slightly in the muffin tins, it is easier to get them out when they are slightly warm.
- Depending on how much frosting you put in them will determine how many cans of frosting you use, we use 2 cans of frosting for 12 of these.
These Cookie Cups are super simple, you just have to make them, they are like cupcakes but in cookie form, I have to admit they are quite addicting.
So if you are looking to satisfy your sweet tooth without having to sacrifice your time or ingredients then you need to whip up these Easy Cookie Cups!
