HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER SALMON BITES, STEP BY STEP:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, salt, and ground ginger powder.
- Heat the sauce until it starts to simmer. Keep the sauce at a simmer while whisking frequently for about 7-8 minutes to thicken the sauce. Remove from the heat.
- Preheat air fryer to 400 Fahrenheit for 2 minutes while preparing the salmon.
- In a medium mixing bowl add the salmon pieces and drizzle the olive oil over top. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and gently toss to coat evenly.
- Place the salmon in the basket of the air fryer and cook for 2 minutes. Shake the basket or flip the salmon pieces over and bake an additional 2 minutes. Donโt overcrowd; air fry the salmon in 2 batches if your air fryer isnโt large enough for all of it.
- Remove the salmon from the air fryer and gently place into the saucepan. Gently coat the salmon with the sauce, let excess sauce drip off, and put back in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry an additional 2-3 minutes until the salmon is cooked through.
- Remove from the air fryer and garnish with sesame seeds and optional green onions.
CAN I MAKE THESE ON THE STOVETOP OR OVEN?
Yes, if you do not have an air fryer you can use either the stove or the oven for this recipe.
For the stovetop cook salmon pieces in a skillet over medium heat with a few tablespoons of olive oil for about 3 minutes per side.
Add the thickened sauce to the skillet and cook an additional minute or 2.
To make in the oven, preheat oven to 400 and spray a foil-lined baking sheet with cooking spray.
Bake for about 8-12 minutes until salmon is nearly cooked through. Toss salmon in sauce and return to oven until salmon is cooked through.
IS THIS REALLY SALTY?
If you do not used reduced sodium soy sauce then it can be really salty, so make sure when using the soy sauce in this recipe that you are using reduced sodium.
AT WHAT TEMPERATURE IS MY SALMON DONE?
The USDA recommends that you cook your salmon to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F.
You can cook under that for a little more tender fish, but to ensure that it is fully cooked we always recommend to cook to what the USDA recommends.
CAN I USE FROZEN SALMON?
You can start out with frozen salmon, but you do not want to cook it from frozen, you want to make sure that you thaw it completely.
Onces it is thawed you want to make sure to pat it dry so you don’t have any excess water on your salmon.
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in an airtight container where they will keep for up to 2-3 days.
I do not recommend freezing this recipe.
To reheat, place in the air fryer at 280 degrees F for about 2-3 minutes until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use frozen salmon, but make sure that it is completely thawed before making the recipe.
- Make sure you are using low sodium soy sauce or this can be overly salty.
- Recommended internal temperature for salmon s 145 degrees F.
- You can easily double this recipe.
- Make sure you are gentle when tossing your salmon into the glaze as it is tender and could fall apart.
- This is great served with rice and a green vegetable like edamame, broccoli, etc.
- This recipe can be made on the stovetop or oven, see above on how to do that.
