Easy, delicious and bursting with flavor this Strawberry Pie is an old-fashioned recipe that has minimal ingredients, intense strawberry flavor and absolutely addicting.
So we have been gearing up with all things strawberry lately. Now I absolutely adore all the strawberry desserts, like love them. This Strawberry Pie is one of my favorites ever.
My family is huge pie lovers and when it comes to strawberry pie they gobble it right up. You can check out another version of one of our favorite ones with this Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie recipe we make often.
We like to pick strawberries in the summer and freeze them for later use in things such as smoothies, crisps/cobblers and milkshakes.
Now the secret to this recipe being so amazing is that it uses Strawberry Jello. Yes, jello. If you are into old-school recipes then this one may be a familiar one for you.
INGREDIENTS YOU NEED:
- Pie Crust – refrigerated, frozen or homemade
- Strawberries
- Strawberry jello
- Cornstarch
- Sugar
- Water
- Whipped cream
That sounds super easy right? Well it’s because it is. We like to use a frozen or refrigerated pie crust because it makes things just a little more simple around here, but you can absolutely make your own for this recipe.
Strawberry Pie is such a fresh and delicious dessert that we make it literally like once a month in the Spring and Summertime. Now it really doesn’t have to be seasonal, because I wholeheartedly thing nothing needs to be seasoning.
I love to grill in the winter, being from Minnesota it’s kinda hard to use a grill in knee deep snow, so we invested in an indoor smokeless grill that works wonders.
So I’m of the opinion that if you crave it make it, don’t depend on the season to dictate what you eat!
HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY PIE:
- Bake pie crust according to package directions, remove from oven and let cool.
- Meanwhile in large saucepan add sugar and water and heat over medium heat, slowly whisk in your cornstarch to incorporate well to make sure you don’t have any lumps.
- Stir continuously for about 4-5 minutes until the mixture thickens and turns a little clear.
- Remove from heat and whisk in your strawberry jello until completely dissolved, let cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled add in your strawberries and toss to coat evenly then pour into prepared pie crust.
- Place in refrigerator to set for about 2-3 hours.
- Dollop with whipped cream if desired.
See, how easy is this recipe?!?!? Literally we live off easy recipes around our house, and if you have been a reader for any length of time the hardest recipe you will probably see on my site is some of my cakes.
But I love myself a good cake, so I cant shy away from making a little longer recipe when it comes to them, because cake is life. But I guess I can argue that with this Strawberry Pie recipe as well.
This Strawberry Pie is the perfect dessert to bring with you to your Memorial Day party, 4th of July party, potluck, get together or just because you want to indulge yourself, there is always room for pie.

Could you use peaches and peach jello instead of strawberry?
Tornadough Alli
That should work!
Ree
This pie was absolutely THE BEST Strawberry Pie I’ve ever made. Thank you so much!
Also, if you mix the corn starch with a little water maybe 1to 2 t, there will be no lumps to yell at.

Easy as pie to make. Delicious! I used Splenda granular instead of sugar, sugar-free Jello, & organic strawberries.
Bonnie
I was concerned about the calories as well so I cut the sugar to 3/4 C , used sugar free Jello and lite Cool whip .

Easy to make & absolutely delicious!

Super easy and delicious!

Can this pie be frozen?
Tornadough Alli
Absolutely, just wrap your pie up in tinfoil tightly and it should keep in the freezer for about 2 months.
Heather
Turned out perfect! I use 7up or Sprite pop instead of water and it is delicious.
Char
How much sugar do you use when you use sprite?
Sharon
Mine didn’t set up. Made it exactly the way it says. Didnt cut into it until 6 hrs later.. wasn’t thick enough. Not sure what I did wrong…
It still tastes good.. a little disappointed.
Tornadough Alli
Hmmm thats really weird, I’ve made this so many times and have never had an issue. I would maybe just suggest cooking the water/cornstarch/sugar mixture a little longer, thats the only thing I could think of that could cause it not to set up. Sorry it didn’t work for you.
Heather
Could be an old box of jello. I have had that happen to me as well. I also use sprite pop instead of water.
Cindy
Iโve been making this for over 40 years! Itโs a family favorite! But we like it even better in a graham cracker crust. ๐
Tornadough Alli
It is so good in a graham cracker crust and truly makes it super simple!

My family have been making this pie for decades, you cannot find a better strawberry pie recipe, but we make a cookie pie crust and it takes it to the next level. The butter and sugar cookie crust along with the strawberry is amazing.
Donna Martel
Do you thaw the berries before putting in the pie crust. Sounds wonderful
Tornadough Alli
All the strawberries are fresh in this recipe.

Do you know of this will work with Splenda? We are a family of either type 2 diabetics or gastric bypassers. So sugar is not our friend! A cup isnโt that bad when divided out into the entire pie. But I was just wondering.
Tornadough Alli
I did some research as I don’t bake with Splenda too often, but you actually shouldn’t have a problem using Splenda, you can even actually leave out the sugar or reduce it as well if you like.
Sue
I made this one today for tomorrow Fatherโs Day. First time making this. The only thing was the cornstarch was lumpy, so I drained it in another pan then finished cooking it. Looks good. Thank you.
Tornadough Alli
Yeah unfortunately that can happen if you dont add it slow enough, but usually it works out either way! I hope you guys enjoy it!
Dee
May I make a suggestion? Add the cornstarch to a little water and mix well. Add it slowly to your mixture and it should do better and not clump.

I’m a 73 year old man who lives on my own and like to cook and bake. This strawberry pie is a perfect use for the British Sovereign strawberries in my garden. I’ve made this pie twice now and it won’t be my last I love it. I think I could do the same with my Blue berries if I can find some blue berry Jello.
Tornadough Alli
You are the sweetest! It’s comments like these that make my heart melt. I’ve heard those strawberries are the best, I have to get my hands on some. I’ve been meaning to try to make a blueberry version of this pie, but yes the blueberry jello is holding me back! I’m on a mission and I hope you stop back to see if I end up making it! Just for you ๐

Hola, hola! En Espaรฑa estamos en plena temporada de fresas y me encantarรญa hacer รฉsta tarta. Hacer una masa quebrada no es ningรบn problema con Thermomix, 3′ y estรก hecha. Mi pregunta; que medida de molde has usado para que quede asรญ de alta y bonita. Otra cosa, que grado de dulzor tiene esta maravillosa tarta?; lo pregunto porque en casa nos encanta, pero no tenemos el gusto americano de muy dulce, no sรฉ si me explico. Gracias de antemano y bonita semana. Besitos

We use a 9″ or a deep dish 9″ frozen pie dough for this recipe. It is sweet, but I think the strawberries really overpower the sweetness in this recipe and tastes more like strawberries than anything. Thank you for subscribing!
