Easy, delicious and bursting with flavor this Strawberry Pie is an old-fashioned recipe that has minimal ingredients, intense strawberry flavor and absolutely addicting.
So we have been gearing up with all things strawberry lately. Now I absolutely adore all the strawberry desserts, like love them. This Strawberry Pie is one of my favorites ever.
My family is huge pie lovers and when it comes to strawberry pie they gobble it right up. You can check out another version of one of our favorite ones with this Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie recipe we make often.
We like to pick strawberries in the summer and freeze them for later use in things such as smoothies, crisps/cobblers and milkshakes.
Now the secret to this recipe being so amazing is that it uses Strawberry Jello. Yes, jello. If you are into old-school recipes then this one may be a familiar one for you.
INGREDIENTS YOU NEED:
- Pie Crust – refrigerated, frozen or homemade
- Strawberries
- Strawberry jello
- Cornstarch
- Sugar
- Water
- Whipped cream
That sounds super easy right? Well it’s because it is. We like to use a frozen or refrigerated pie crust because it makes things just a little more simple around here, but you can absolutely make your own for this recipe.
Strawberry Pie is such a fresh and delicious dessert that we make it literally like once a month in the Spring and Summertime. Now it really doesn’t have to be seasonal, because I wholeheartedly thing nothing needs to be seasoning.
I love to grill in the winter, being from Minnesota it’s kinda hard to use a grill in knee deep snow, so we invested in an indoor smokeless grill that works wonders.
So I’m of the opinion that if you crave it make it, don’t depend on the season to dictate what you eat!
HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY PIE:
- Bake pie crust according to package directions, remove from oven and let cool.
- Meanwhile in large saucepan add sugar and water and heat over medium heat, slowly whisk in your cornstarch to incorporate well to make sure you don’t have any lumps.
- Stir continuously for about 4-5 minutes until the mixture thickens and turns a little clear.
- Remove from heat and whisk in your strawberry jello until completely dissolved, let cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled add in your strawberries and toss to coat evenly then pour into prepared pie crust.
- Place in refrigerator to set for about 2-3 hours.
- Dollop with whipped cream if desired.
See, how easy is this recipe?!?!? Literally we live off easy recipes around our house, and if you have been a reader for any length of time the hardest recipe you will probably see on my site is some of my cakes.
But I love myself a good cake, so I cant shy away from making a little longer recipe when it comes to them, because cake is life. But I guess I can argue that with this Strawberry Pie recipe as well.
This Strawberry Pie is the perfect dessert to bring with you to your Memorial Day party, 4th of July party, potluck, get together or just because you want to indulge yourself, there is always room for pie.

Great pie recipe. So easy and impressive to serve company. In hurry use store bought graham cracker crust. It can take more than a pint of berries.

Made this pie yesterday and it was the best pie ever especially as it’s now fresh strawberry season. Only thing I did different was to whisk the sugar and cornstarch together in the pan and then add the water. Have learned the hard way that if I do the mix first there will never be a lump and much easier and faster than fighting to get the corn starch or flour in little by little or adding to hot water. Thanks so much for this recipe. Going to sprinkle blueberries on top of the whipped cream for a 4th of July treat!

I live and work in China and have been craving that weird strawberry gel used to make strawberry pie found in US grocery stores. This recipe was an excellent substitute! For my coworkers, I made a bunch of different types of mini pies for Pi Day and these strawberry pies were the first to be devoured!

This pie is amazing! I followed the recipe exactly as written, but I used a graham cracker crust instead of regular pie crust because that is what my family prefers. I decided to make 2 pies and was so glad I did, because it was that good!! So refreshing with the fresh strawberries!

I have been making this recipe for a long time. I always mix all the dry ingredients first and then add COLD water to the pot. When thickened and slightly cooled, I add the strawberries with 1/4 tsp. almond flavoring. Works every time!

Is it 13 ounces of strawberry jello or one package of 3 ounce of strawberry jello

I want to say this is a very delicious recipe. I always mix my sugar and cornstarch and then add the water. It is a whole lot easier.

Can you use a deep dish pie plate?
Tornadough Alli
I havenโt tried it but I donโt see it being an issue.
Karen
Can this pie be made the day before?
Tornadough Alli
That shouldn’t be an issue as long as you keep it refrigerated.
Joyce
Can you use frozen strawberries?
Tornadough Alli
I have never tried this with frozen strawberries so I can’t honestly say how it would turn out.

The texture of frozen strawberries does not lend itself to this recipe. I have done this with frozen peaches and peach jello, and it does well, but not strawberries. You need the raw berries.

Made this for the first time tonight and my box of jello was smaller and it still came out perfect! I followed the recipe exactly and didnโt have any lumps at all! It was ready to serve 2 hours later! Iโll definitely be making this again and Iโm going to try the graham cracker crust next time and Iโll buy the larger box of strawberry jello!

Is it 1/2 cup of water or 1.5 cups of water ?

I made two of these strawberry pies for my husband and I and daughterโs family with 3 teenagers.
I kept hearing โGrandma, this is really good!โ. The second nightโs dinner I heard it again. They like a spoonful of whipped topping. This is from kids that are very picky, even with desserts.
I definitely will use this as my go to recipe for strawberry pie.
