Warm, flaky and bursting with flavor these Strawberry Dumplings are an easy and delicious dessert or snack recipe that are fun, unique and family friendly.
With the warmer weather rolling around I’m all about everything strawberry related. I adore baking with strawberries and do it any chance that I can get.
These Strawberry Dumplings are one of those recipes that we make a lot during the spring in summer months, when it comes to apple season we love making our Apple Dumplings!
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With easy ingredients these Strawberry Dumplings are quick and easy to whip up and take minimal effort.
- The soda/pop in this recipe creates a delicious sauce that goes well with the flavor or the strawberries themselves.
- Strawberries are available all year long so this doesn’t have to be reserved for a spring and summer treat.
I think what I like best about this recipe itself is the sauce, the sauce that it makes is to die for and really gives the dumplings the extra kick that it deserves.
HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY DUMPLINGS, STEP BY STEP:
- Unroll your crescent rolls out and place them on a cutting board.
- Top each roll with about 1 heaping Tablespoon full of diced strawberries.
- Roll up starting with the long end and place them seem side down in a greased 9″x13″ baking dish.
- In a saucepan add your butter and melt over medium-high heat.
- Once melted add in your brown sugar, white sugar and vanilla.
- Mix together until combined, this will be grainy, but that is okay.
- Pour mixture over your crescent rolls in pan until they are all covered.
- Pour your 7up around the sides and in the center of the dumplings, try not to pour directly over dumplings. Then bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
This Strawberry Dumpling Recipe is one of those crazy easy and delicious recipes that everyone loves. There is on denying that they go super fast in our house.
We can barely keep them on the table for more than 10 minutes before everyone has devoured the whole pan, but they are just absolutely delicious.
HOW TO STORE:
If you keep them long enough to store them they can be stored for up to 2 days covered at room temperature. To store longer, cover and refrigerate for an additional 2-3 days.
To reheat, place your oven on warm and dumplings in there until they warm up, or you can take a few individual ones and place them in the microwave and heat for about 30-60 seconds until warmed.
You’ll want to make sure if you are reheating in the microwave to get some of that sauce on top so it will melt while warmed so you have that over the top to serve.
These Strawberry Dumplings really don’t last that long honestly, they are just so good and they can be made with a variety of fruits.
Some other ones that you can try if you like would be apples, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries. Any berry would be perfect for this recipe!
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- When mixing together your butter and sugar mixture, you want it to be grainy so do not bring to a boil.
- If you canโt find crescent rolls, you can also use refrigerated biscuits as well, these should work fine, they will just be a little larger and puffier.
- You’ll want to let these Strawberry Dumplings to cool slightly, this will help the sauce thicken up.
- Optional but highly encouraged to serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
- If you can help it try not to pour the sauce directly over the dumplings themselves, we want them to be able to get a little brown and crispy.
- You don’t have to use 7up, you can use any lemon-lime soda/pop that you prefer.
- You can use sliced strawberries as well and not diced.
We adore topping this with fresh homemade whipped cream, it gives a nice light texture to the dumping recipe itself. Just think of these as heavier Strawberry Shortcake.
