INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT BOTTOM)
Whole milk
Heavy cream
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Granulated sugar
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Fine sea salt, optional
Vanilla extract

HOW TO MAKE RUMCHATA HOT CHOCOLATE, STEP BY STEP:
- Add the milk, cream, chocolate chips, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt to a medium-sized saucepot. Stir to combine.
- Place over medium heat, constantly stirring, so nothing burns on the bottom. Cook until well combined and the chocolate has melted about 5 minutes. Bring to a simmer for 12-14 minutes.
- Take off the heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Place 2 ounces of RumChata into each mug.
- Top with the hot chocolate and add the garnishes of your choice, and serve immediately.
WHAT TOPPINGS CAN I ADD?
This tasty Rumchata Hot Cocoa is perfect with some mini marshmallows on top.
You could also add some chocolate drizzle, caramel sauce, whipped cream, or even some marshmallow fluff.
CAN I MAKE THIS AHEAD OF TIME?
This kind of drink is perfect for making it ahead of time. Simply follow the instructions through step 2, then let it cool before placing it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve it.
When ready to heat it up to serve, just put it back on the stovetop and bring it to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and then finish off the remaining steps.
CAN I MAKE THIS KID-FRIENDLY?
Sure can! Before you add the RumChata, just make some of the hot chocolate from the base recipe for the kiddos.
Then finish it off with the rest of the Rumchata recipe and all the adults can enjoy it.
HOW TO STORE:
Let leftovers cool down before storing them in the refrigerator, leftovers will keep for up to 3 days.
