WHAT LIQUORS ARE USED IN A MUDSLIDE?
- Baileys Irish Cream – This liquor is a whiskey that combines the flavors of chocolate and cream and is on the sweeter side, great for dessert drinks.
- Kahlua – Kahlua is a darker liquor that has a vibrant coffee flavor which is used in many different drinks that you want flavored with coffee, it is especially good with chocolate as it brings out the flavor of chocolate.
- Vodka – This is just your traditional liquor that is used in a variety of different drinks and comes in many many different flavors. It is used in this recipe to break up the flavors and balance out the other two liquors.
CAN I MAKE OTHER FLAVORS?
Absolutely you can easily change the flavor of this cocktail. Add some chocolate ice cream for a more chocolate version. You can switch out your vodkas as well.
Sometimes we like to use a salted caramel/caramel vodka or a peppermint vodka too. Both are amazing, with the caramel you can drizzle your glass with caramel syrup.
HOW DO I MAKE A CLASSIC MUDSLIDE RECIPE?
If you are not a fan of the Frozen Mudslide Recipe you can also make this a Classic Mudslide. It is super easy and you are just omitting an ingredient or two.
To make this a classic take a cocktail shaker and add the liquors and ice and shake well until blended. Strain into a class with ice, you can drizzle glass with chocolate syrup if you like as well.
HOW TO STORE:
Alcohol doesn’t freeze well on it’s own, but if you are making a larger batch and wanting to serve it throughout the day you can place it in the freezer so it keeps more solid.
I wouldn’t keep it in there for long, but if you will be using it all within a few hours then this is what you can do to ensure that it stays slightly frozen.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can double or triple this recipe depending on the amount of people you are serving.
- Use a higher quality blender to make sure that it blends the ice nicely.
- You can switch up the flavors in this by switching out ice cream or vodkas, see some tips above.
- We like to use hurricane glasses and this recipe will make 2 large drinks with those or 3 smaller drinks in smaller glasses.
- The chocolate drizzle is not necessary but highly recommended.
- The texture of this is like a milkshake but less thick and more frothy.
