WHAT TEMP DO YOU COOK SALMON?
There is really no wrong or right answer to this question. You can cook salmon at 350 degrees, 400 degrees, 450 degrees etc.
We choose to cook our Orange Glazed Salmon recipe at 400 degrees F. It gives us a shorter cooking time which makes the recipe quick and easy.
The internal temperature of salmon should be 145 degrees F to be considered done, as long as it flakes and it turns from a reddish color to an opaque pink.
We like to use a larger filet for this recipe, but it can also be made with smaller filets, about 4-5 6 oz filets each.
You will need to adjust the cooking time slightly to use smaller cuts, but as long as you have a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature you will be fine.
We also like using the skin on salmon as well. The recipe itself flakes right off of the skin, so you really don’t have to worry about getting any of the skin while you are eating.
You can choose to make this with salmon with skin off, or remove the skin yourself if you have time. We just prefer if on for this recipe.
WHAT GOES WELL WITH SALMON?
There are a lot of amazing side dishes that go well with fish, especially citrus flavored fish.
Some of our favorite go to is just a simple side salad, dinner rolls, baked asparagus, grilled vegetables, etc.
There is really no limits on what you decide you want or can serve a salmon recipe with because everyone has their own preference.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Find yourself a nice even salmon filet for this so it cooks evenly, you don’t want one that is really uneven because you will have parts that are over cooked or under cooked.
- Make sure that the internal temperate of your salmon reaches 145 degrees F. for optimal doneness.
- Using tinfoil really helps with cleanup of this recipe and prevents the salmon and glaze from sticking, as honey will scorch under high temperatures.
- You can continue to glaze this salmon while cooking, just use a pastry brush and brush on some of the glaze that is on the sides of the salmon.
- If you want, prop your salmon up to cook on top of some orange slices, this will also enhance the orange flavor and help your salmon from sticking.
This Glazed Salmon is really one of our favorites. Who doesn’t love a less than 30 minute meal that feeds the whole family! I know that I do.
