When it comes to quick and easy but delicious dinnertime meals, these Meatball Subs are our favorite. Simple ingredients help this recipe whip up in no time.
When I was a kid, and we went to Subway I would always get the Meatball Sub. There was no doubt about it, it was hands down my favorite thing on their menu back then.
When I went out on my own, it was also one of those recipes that I continued to make, because it was relatively cheap and quick, then I had a family and they came to love them too.
Now like you have noticed about the majority of my recipes on my site, we like quick and easy and that is exactly what this Meatball Sub Recipe it!

HOW TO MAKE MEATBALL SUBS, STEP BY STEP:
- In saucepan or large skillet add your pasta sauce (or homemade sauce) and meatballs and heat until the meatballs are cooked through.
- In bowl mix together your butter, garlic powder and parsley.
- Place your cut sub rolls on a baking sheet and spread each side with your butter mixture.
- Place them under the broiler for about 2-3 minutes until slightly golden, remove.
- Pile some of your meatballs and sauce on one half of your sub rolls and top with a little more sauce and then sprinkle some cheese on top.
- Place in a 350 F oven and bake for 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly, sprinkle with oregano and serve.
WHAT CHEESE IS BEST FOR A MEATBALL SUB?
We really prefer to go towards the shredded mozzarella for this recipe. Some other options for cheese could include shredded Parmesan, Swiss or Provolone.
All of these are great and will add a little different flavor to the sandwich itself, it’s personal preference but I always like to use freshly shredded as it melts easier.
CAN YOU REHEAT THESE FOR LATER?
Absolutely, once your subs are all assembled and cooked, any leftovers can be wrapped in aluminum foil and refrigerated for about 4-5 days.
When you want to reheat these, just preheat your oven to 350 F. and pop them in there for about 10 minutes until heated through.
They can also be pre assembled and not put in the oven for the cheese to melt as well, just wrap them as stated and heat again and the cheese will melt, you might need to add a little more time to ensure that the cheese has melted fully.
Serve these Meatball Subs with some French fries, a side salad or something lighter if you’d like and it quickly becomes a deliciously easy dinner or lunchtime meal.
If it’s quick, easy and delicious that you are looking for then you HAVE to whip up these Meatball Subs and keep them on your menu rotation for good!
