- Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar, serve with syrup.
WHAT IS THE BEST TYPE OF BREAD TO USE?
We personally like to use Texas Toast for these French Toast Bites as the bread is thick and fluffy.
But you can use any thicker type of bread that you can find at your store. I just don’t recommend using regular sandwich bread as its smaller and can become soggy.
DO I HAVE TO USE WHOLE MILK?
While we think this recipe works best with whole milk, you can certainly use other milk and even milk alternatives, like oat milk, coconut milk, or almond milk.
BESIDES SYRUP, WHAT ELSE CAN I SERVE FOR DIPPING?
When it comes to french toast, you really can do whatever you want to drizzle or dip them in. Maple syrup is our number one, but some other ideas include:
- Nutella
- Peanut Butter
- Strawberry Syrup
- Apple Syrup
- Chocolate Sauce
- Caramel Sauce
There really is no right or wrong way to serve a dipping or drizzling for this recipe, just go with what you like best, or mix it up!
CAN I MAKE THESE ON A GRIDDLE?
Absolutely! It will accommodate more and you won’t have to do them in batches like we do when we use a skillet.
So if you would rather use a griddle rather than a skillet for this recipe, go for it!
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 2-3 days.
I do not recommend freezing this recipe.
To reheat place in the microwave until heated through, or place in the air fryer for a few minutes to heat and get a little crispy.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Make sure you are using a thicker type of bread.
- Other milk can be used, see above on ideas.
- We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
- This goes great with any of your favorite breakfast dishes like eggs, fruit, etc.
- You can dip or drizzle with a variety of things, see above for ideas.
- If you want, you can cut the crust off.
When it comes to a fun and easy breakfast, you really cannot go wrong with these French Toast Bites.
