This Easy Peach Cake uses a box mix, and fresh diced peaches…so let’s call it semi homemade because the whipped cream frosting is also homemade!
So we are just cutting down on the steps by using a box cake mix for this Peach Cake recipe which I’m all for! It is one of our favoriting summertime desserts that we cant get enough of.
Some of our other favorite peach themed recipes we have on our site include Peach Rice Pudding and this delicious Peach Pie!

This Peach Cake is SOOOO simple! I love peaches baked into things, it doesn’t really matter what it is, Peach Cobbler is one of my favorite things ever.
This Easy Peach cake comes in as one of my second favorite peach recipes for sure, it is just super tasty and easy to whip up! So I mean for real, it get’s made all. the. time.
The one thing that I really like about baking with peaches is that you don’t have to bake them for a super long time for them to soften up enough to break down and eat.
I hate biting into things and you have a hard peach, trust me it’s happened. Not my favorite thing in the world, I like nice soft peaches, but it happens from time to time.
HOW TO PEEL PEACHES:
So there are different methods on peeling peaches, I do not like to parboil my peaches when I peel them, I’m just too lazy to take that much time and effort to get the skin off.
What we do is slice our peach in half and twist and remove the pit, then we cut into slices and using a sharp pairing knife we cut the skin off that way.
We find it faster and easier and it’s just how we’ve been doing it our whole lives and it has always worked for us, especially when the peaches are nice and ripe it makes it super easy.
HOW TO STORE:
Since this Peach Cake uses Whipped Cream Frosting it needs to be stored in the refrigerator. This will help it keep longer and not melt or grow bacteria.
This will keep in the refrigerator properly covered about 4-5 days.
DO I HAVE TO USE A WHIPPED CREAM FROSTING?
Absolutely not, this is just what we like to use because it let’s the peach flavor of the cake really shine through. It’s also more indicative of a summery cake.
But we also decided to add a little bit of cinnamon to the Whipped Cream Frosting because we love the flavor of peach and cinnamon together, which is also completely optional.
But you could also use a powdered sugar glaze, a buttercream, a cream cheese frosting, anything that you really like you can use, this is just our preferred method.
WHY DO YOU COAT YOUR PEACHES IN FLOUR?
Coating fruit in flour when baking helps them stay even throughout the cake instead of sinking to the bottom, especially fruit that is naturally wet and a little slimy.
We do this with almost all our cakes that use fruit as we like to have the fruit scattered around our cake instead of just at the bottom.
I think you will really love this Easy Peach Cake Recipe, it is like a hybrid of a summer/fall recipe because it has some cinnamon in it so it can transfer to either or.
We still like it all year round, and sometimes we do have to use canned peaches cut up, but prefer using fresh peaches because, I mean who doesn’t love fresh fruit anyways?
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Depending on how much cinnamon you want in your frosting you can add more, we use around 1 tsp, but if you want more cinnamon flavor you can double it.
- You can absolutely make your own homemade cake mix and use it that way, we just used a white cake mix out of ease.
- You do not need to make homemade Whipped Cream Frosting, you can just stir some cinnamon into cool whip and top it with that.
- Stated above you do not have to use this frosting recipe you can use any other frosting you like, we like this as it’s light and airy and lets the peach flavor shine through.
- You can use yellow or vanilla cake mix as well.
- Make sure your cake is fully cooled before frosting so it does not melt.

Made this peach cake today with a few changes…used a yellow cake mix, unsweetened applesauce instead of oil and added a few shakes of cinnamon with the flour. Pretty tasty and a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream might even add to this wonderful cake.
