These delicious Brookies are a combination between chocolate chip cookies and brownies with chunks of chocolate thrown in making these bars chewy and gooey!
I love a good Brookie! They are one of my favorite bars, or should I call them cookies? I think I will say bars since they are in bar for just container cookie dough!
They are a fun dessert that everyone loves, and they are super easy. You can make these using pre bought mixes or from scratch like we did.
They are just fun all around, I love when you can get two desserts mixed I one and these Brookies absolutely do that for you and it combines two of my all time favorites.
Who doesn’t love a good chocolate chip cookie or brownie recipe? But when you smash them together it is literal heaven in each and every bite.
Not to mention the chopped chocolate we added to give it a little delicious chocolate gooey effect that I absolutely cannot resist, chocolate should not be put in front of me.

See how easy this Brookie Recipe is? Usually it doesn’t take too long to whip up either batch of chocolate chip cookies or brownie batter.
You can absolutely also use your own recipes for both if you like, or you can use a pre package of one and homemade of another, etc.
The choices are up to you. You can also use any kind of chocolate in these Brookies as you’d like. We stick with semi-sweet as it balances the flavor out.
But you can also do dark chocolate or milk chocolate, we have done both and equally like all 3 chocolates in this Brookie Recipe the same.
You can also make a double batch which we do sometimes because we like to have some that we can freeze for later and take out and snack on when we don’t have anything sweet around.
HOW TO STORE:
Brookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or you can place them in the refrigerator for the same amount of time.
These can also be frozen, to do that bake and cool as directed. Place in a freezer container or bag and they should keep 4-6 months in the freezer, let defrost on the countertop.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- These can be also made with pre made brownie and chocolate chip cookie mixes.
- You can layer the Brookies different if you like by pressing the cookie dough onto the bottom of the pan and pouring the brownie batter over the top.
- These are done when a toothpick comes out clean.
- The chopped chocolate bar is optional, we always add it for more chocolate flavor as we absolutely love chocolate.
- Make sure that you line your pan with parchment paper, this make them easy to remove and cut.
- These can be frozen, see my tips above.
