We love all of our friends and always make sure that we have an extra gathering outside of the holidays for just all of us to get together and be thankful for one another.
It’s been a tradition for years and we absolutely love it. Just as much as I love this Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe, it is super easy side dish to whip up and that is my favorite part.
Full of spices and a crunchy topping, you just can’t go wrong with this recipe! Some people love the marshmallow topping but I’m all about the streusel topping on mine.

- Once baked, allow to cool for 10 minutes then serve!
CAN I MAKE THIS AHEAD OF TIME?
The beauty of this recipe is that yes you can make it ahead of time! If you want to do that you will only be able to do bake the actual casserole part.
So follow the instructions and bake the sweet potato portion, then make up your streusel topping and you can either keep that separate covered in the refrigerator or top the casserole and cover.
Once you are about ready to eat you will want to sprinkle the streusel on top of the casserole if not already on and then bake it for the remaining amount of time.
WAYS TO PREPARE YOUR SWEET POTATOES FOR MASHING:
We have prepared our sweet potatoes in many different ways including baking, boiling and even in the instant pot. Below Iโll tell you how you can prepare them in each way.
Baking: Bake in the oven at 425 degrees until tender, about 45-50 minutes. Remove the skins and then beat with hand mixer or potato masher.
Instant Pot: Place sweet potatoes in the Instant Pot with 1 cup of water, and place on high pressure for 10 minutes. Remove the skin, beat with hand mixer or mash with potato masher.
Boil: Peel and chop your potatoes into larger chunks and bring to a boil and simmer until fork tender, drain and rinse with cool water. Mash with hand mixer or potato masher.
HOW TO STORE:
Once your Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe has cooled place leftovers in airtight container where it will keep in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Warm up in the microwave or a dish in the oven until heated.
This can also be frozen, again remove any leftovers and place in a freezer container and it should keep frozen for up to 1 month. Let defrost in the refrigerator overnight, then reheat in the oven or the microwave until heated through.
