Chicken stock

HOW TO MAKE CROCKPOT MASHED POTATOES, STEP BY STEP:
- Place the potatoes, garlic cloves, chicken stock, salt, and pepper into a slow cooker, stir to combine.
- Place the sliced butter on top of the potatoes and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the potatoes are soft and mashable. The potatoes may brown around the edges, thatโs okay.
- Place the half and half into a small saucepan and warm it over medium-low heat, do not simmer. Pour half of the half and half into the crockpot.
- Mash the potatoes with a potato masher right in the cooker.
- Add more half & half until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, serve immediately.
DO I HAVE TO PEEL MY POTATOES?
For this recipe we peel our potatoes because that is the way that we like it. If you want a more rustic flavor and texture you can leave them unpeeled.
If you choose to leave them unpeeled make sure that you scrub them good so you get all the dirt off the potatoes themselves. The skins have a lot of nutrients in them as well.
DO I HAVE TO USE HALF & HALF?
We like the flavor and texture that half & half gives these Crockpot Mashed Potatoes, but you can use milk or heavy cream as well.
It all depends on how rich or creamy you like these, this is why we go with half & half as it is the perfect balance for us.
WHAT ARE THE BEST POTATOES TO USE?
Our favorite is Russet potatoes and that is what we usually use for this recipe. You can use other such as Yukon Gold or Red potatoes.
This is just our personal preference and the way we make them, since this is a basic base recipe, feel free to use your favorite.

This Crockpot Mashed Potato recipe can be stored covered in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Let defrost in the refrigerator overnight. You can reheat on the stove by adding a little more half & half or milk, or in the microwave until heated through.
