WHAT SIZE SHOT CUPS DO I NEED TO USE?
We use 2-ounce plastic condiment/shot cups for this recipe. This makes the perfect amount in our opinion.
They also come with lids, which makes them easy to store before you are ready to serve them as well.
DO I HAVE TO USE SALT FOR THE RIM?
No, if you are not a fan of the salt on margaritas then you do not have to use it.
You can however take a sweeter route and use decorators sugar or regular sugar to still get that rimmed effect on these Margarita Jello Shots.
WHAT IS THE BEST LIQUOR TO USE?
When it comes to using the tequila and the orange liquor we usually go with Hornitos and Cointreau.
There are other various kids that you can use, for the tequila (we like silver) some other recommendations include:
- Patron
- Jose Cuervo
- Don Julio
- 1800
When it comes to the orange liquor you can also use some of these brands:
- Triple Sec (any brand)
- Grand Marnier
- Curaรงao
- Tattersall
Use what you have on hand or have handy I should say.
CAN I MAKE THESE IN ANOTHER FLAVOR?
Yes, if you want to switch it up from the strawberry or just go another route you can use lime jello for a regular Margarita Jello Shot, or try orange, watermelon etc.
Personally we love the strawberry flavor in this recipe, but be bold if you’d like.
HOW TO STORE:
While we love these Strawberry Margarita Jello Shots when they are first made, they can be stored in the refrigerator with the lid where they will keep for up to 2 weeks.
We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
