WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With minimal ingredients these can be put together quickly.
- You can flavor them to your liking.
- Add any fun edible sprinkles or decorations to them to make them pop.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT BOTTOM):
Champagne
Simple Syrup
Unflavored gelatin
Gold sanding sugar
HOW TO MAKE CHAMPAGNE JELLO SHOTS, STEP BY STEP:
- Place ยฝ cup champagne in the microwave-safe measuring cup and heat for 1 minute or until boiling hot.
- Add the gelatin and whisk until no lumps remain. If lumps remain, remove them from the mixture.
- Add the remaining champagne and simple syrup to the mixture and stir.
- Line up your shot cups on a plate or moveable flat surface.
- Using the injector or baking syringe, fill the shot cups to be about ยพ of the way full.
- Place in the refrigerator for 2 hours or until solidified.
- Sprinkle the tops of the shots with gold sanding sugar, place the lids on the top, serve, and enjoy!
WHY DO YOU USE A SYRINGE OR INJECTOR WITH THESE?
The alcohol used in this is really foamy and the foam will not completely dissipate even when stirring or waiting so we use the syringe to reduce the foam that will get into the cups.
If you do not have either of these you can pour directly from the measuring cup, this will not affect the shots in any way, there just might be some foam spots in your cups.
CAN I MAKE THESE SWEETER?
Absolutely if you are wanting a more sweet flavor to cut the tartness you can replace 1/2 cup of the alcohol with white grape juice, sprite or ginger ale.
DO I NEED TO USE SANDING SUGAR?
No this is a personal preference, we think it adds a nice touch and pop to these making them a little more “elegant” looking for the occasion. You can leave it off.
Or you can use other fun themed sprinkles as well, just make sure that you do not add these until the Champagne Jello Shots have set up or they will melt into the mixture.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THESE TO SET UP?
These need at least 2 hours to fully set up in the refrigerator. Check your shots by gently shaking them, if they are still liquidy give them more time to set.
HOW TO STORE:
You can store these in the refrigerator with the lids on where they will keep for up to 7-10 days but have the best flavor within the first few days.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use any kind of sparkling wine you like, we use a spumante in this one but a prosecco or regular champagne work really well in these.
- Make sure you let these sit for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator to set up!
- This makes 12 2 ounce servings, you can absolutely double this recipe to make more!
- These can be made 1-2 days ahead of time.
- We like to top with gold sanding sugar, this is optional but you can also top with any of your favorite sprinkles and more.
- To reduce the foam use a syringe or injector to fill your cups.
If you want a fun, easy and flavorful party favor for the holiday season then you absolutely have to make these Champagne Jello Shots!
