Who doesn’t love pizza? How about Pizza Sliders? Tasty, easy, hand-held and fun for the whole family.
I’m all for anything pizza flavored, pizza is just something that I have always loved and will take it in any form that I can get.
These Pizza Sliders have always been a favorite of ours. Especially since we have been so busy around here with school and the holidays. They are just an easy dinner or appetizer to whip up.
With sausage and pepperoni, you get the best of both worlds, but of course you can always add more to these.
Sliders have become a staple in our house, we just cannot get enough of them. Smaller sandwiches where you don’t have to feel guilty about eating.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST):
Italian sausage
Pizza sauce
Parmesan cheese
Hawaiian rolls
Provolone cheese
Deli pepperoni
Mozzarella cheese
Dried oregano
Unsalted butter
Fresh basil
Garlic powder
Onion powder
HOW TO MAKE PIZZA SLIDERS, STEP BY STEP:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside,
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage, breaking it up into crumbles until there is no pink left, roughly 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the pan.
- Add in the pizza sauce and parmesan cheese and stir until combined, remove from heat.
- Place the bottom half of the rolls, cut side up into the prepared baking dish.
- Layer the sliced provolone on top of the rolls.
- Next, add the sauce and spread out over the cheese in an even layer.
- Layer the pepperoni on top of the sauce.
- Lastly, top with the mozzarella and sprinkle with oregano..
- Place the top of the rolls on top.
- To make the sauce in a small bowl, stir together the butter, basil, garlic powder, and onion powder until combined.
- Using a pastry brush, brush the topping all over the rolls (top and sides), making sure to use it all.
- Spray a piece of foil with nonstick cooking spray and place over the baking dish.
- Place sliders in the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle the parmesan on top and continue to bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove the sliders from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then cut along the seams of the buns and serve.
DO I HAVE TO USE HAWAIIAN ROLLS?
No, if you are not into the sweetness of the Hawaiian rolls you can use slider buns instead.
We like the contrast between the sweet and the savory, and the rolls really taste like garlic bread!
WHAT OTHER TOPPINGS CAN I ADD?
You can add any of your favorite pizza toppings to this recipe! Experiment and find out what you like best. Some ideas include:
- Onions
- Black Olives
- Green Olives
- Green Pepper
- Jalapenos
- Pineapple
- Mushrooms
- Bacon
- Canadian Bacon
The world is your oyster when it comes to these Pizza Sliders and you can switch them up however you’d like.
I CAN’T FIND DELI PEPPERONI, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
If your store does not sell the large deli pepperoni, don’t worry! You can use regular pepperoni for this recipe as well.
Just make sure that you use enough that it covers the top of the meat sauce.
WHAT CAN I SERVE WITH PIZZA SLIDERS?
This is a great one, because there are so many different things that you can serve with these sliders. Some ideas include:
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 3 days.
They can also be frozen. Place sliders in a freezer container and they will keep for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator until thawed. To reheat place back in a 350 degree oven covered until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use your favorite ground italian sausage for this, sweet, mild or spicy!
- Slider buns can be substituted for Hawaiian rolls.
- Doctor these up with more toppings, see some ideas above.
- Make sure you are using freshly grated/shredded cheese. It melts better.
- Make sure you use all the topping, getting the tops and sides of the sliders.
- These can be frozen, see above on how to do that.
- You can easily double this recipe and bake in 2 separate pans.
- Make sure you keep the foil off after adding the parmesan to the tops so the bread crisps up.
- If you can’t find deli pepperoni, use regular pepperoni just make sure it covers the top of the meat sauce.
