These are one of my favorite things to give as holiday gifts because they are super tasty and everyone that I’ve ever given to always requests some sort of truffle recipe.
Well if you are going to whip up some truffles, I highly recommend these peppermint ones! They will become one of your new favorites.

I think chocolate and peppermint just belong together and make a delicious pairing that you cant resist!
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With minimal ingredients they are quick to whip up.
- You can easily double the batch too serve more people.
- You can switch out your chocolate preference for any flavor you like.
Aren’t they just the cutest little things you ever did see? I think so! But more these Peppermint Truffles are addicting, like if you like peppermint you won’t be able to stop.
At least that’s would be me…but I’m with that, they are tiny, so I give that my excuse to eat these in excess. Probably not a good one but who is judging here.
HOW TO MAKE PEPPERMINT TRUFFLES, STEP BY STEP:
- Combine the sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate peppermint chips in a large bowl. Microwave for 1 minute. Stir the mixture together. If the chocolate hasnโt fully melted, microwave it for another 30 seconds.
- Place the mixture in the fridge for 1-2 hours, or until it has set.
- Scoop the mixture into 1โ balls. I recommend using a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop to ensure all of the truffles are the same size.
- Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave on 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval until it is fully melted. It should take 1-2 minutes.
- Dip the truffles one at a time into the melted dark chocolate.
- Allow any excess to drip off and then place the truffles on a parchment lined baking sheet to set.
- Allow the truffles to set fully before enjoying.
See how easy that is! The hardest part is waiting until the filling has set up, but for these bad boys I would wait as long as it is baked because I absolutely love them.
I love the pretty colored inside on these, they really stand out! They also scream peppermint which is what I go for with these so people not only taste it but can see it as well.
HOW TO STORE:
Since this recipe does contain sweetened condensed milk these need to be kept refrigerated. They will keep in the refrigerator properly stored in a airtight container of ziptop bag for up to 3 days.
You can also freeze these! Yay, that is my favorite part. I love being able to make things ahead of time and freezing them for later use. We do that a lot around the holidays.
To freeze these Peppermint Truffles, prepare according to package directions and let them set up. Then place them in a freezer bag or an airtight container separated in layers with parchment paper.
Place in your freezer and they should last for up to 3 months. You can set them in the refrigerator to defrost before consuming.
This Peppermint Truffle Recipe is really a fun one. They are great to give as holiday gifts, marked as keeping refrigerated, and to serve during any holiday get togethers.
We switch them up every year, but so far these truffles have become of of the most requested ones, so since they are easy to make and I can make them ahead of time, I’m not going to complain that people are asking for them.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- We use high quality dark chocolate chips in this recipe, but you can use whatever chocolate you like, milk, semi-sweet, white, baking bars, candiquik, chocolate melting wafers, etc.
- After the filling has set up we like to keep a glass of water near by and dunk our cookie scoop in it, this helps to form the truffles.
- Make sure to use sweetened condensed milk and NOT evaporated milk.
- If you can’t find white chocolate peppermint chips you can substitute 2 1/2 cups white chocolate chips and 1/2 cup finely crushed candy canes.
- The coconut oil helps the chocolate set and creates a shinier exterior, if you don’t have any on hand it is ok to omit.
- These can be frozen, see my tips above on how to do that!
If you haven’t prepared you holiday dessert menu yet, you need to include these Peppermint Truffles, they are easy, fun and absolutely delicious!
