Shrimp is one of my husbands favorite foods. He could eat shrimp all day every day. Me, I’m more on the “particular” side when it comes to my shrimp. I love fried shrimp the most, but when it comes to grilled you cant get any better than these Mojo Shrimp Kabobs.
If you are a fan of shrimp in general you might like my Bourbon Shrimp, Shrimp Po’ Boy Sliders or my Shrimp Tempura Rolls.
These Shrimp Kabobs are super easy and they whip up in a flash, and don’t even get me started on that flavor. It is a simple mixture that goes well on anything, we love it on our Pork Chops.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
- Shrimp
- Olive oil
- Orange juice
- Lime Juice
- Cilantro
- Garlic
- Cumin
- Oregano
- Salt & pepper
This shrimp marinade recipe is one of our favorites, and we use it more often than not. It gives a good Cuban spice to the shrimp that I think really goes well, especially when grilled. It is one of those marinades that really go well with shrimp, chicken or pork, so this marinade is a free for all.
We use raw shrimp in this recipe. We actually like to buy ours with it in the shell and keep the tail on, it’s more of a fresh experience for us. So below I’ll explain how to shell and devein your shrimp.
HOW TO PEEL AND DEVEIN SHRIMP:
- To peel, start underneath the shrimp where the legs are and gently peel back the shell and remove, if you wish leave the last shell segment in tact so the tail stays on (our preference).
- Using a sharp pairing knife make a shallow slice on the underbody of the shrimp to expose the intestines and gently pull out the vein and discard.
Now you are ready to go! It is super simple, I know that you can easily buy them deveined and peeled, but this is just our preference and how we like to do it, you can absolutely use raw shrimp that are all ready to go.
These Mojo Shrimp Kabobs whip up so fast, they only marinate for about 30 minutes, if you were to marinate any longer they would get a little tougher to chew.
And it only takes about 4 minutes of cooking time to finish these bad boys off! You cannot get any more quick and simple than this recipe.
Thats the beauty of shrimp, when you are hungry and want to make something quick, they always are ones that are a go-to because they cook up so fast and you can find a variety of different recipes.

You will fall in love with this recipe just like we have, even the kids love it. It isn’t spicy, it has a little kick with a pinch if citrus flavor which makes the perfect flavor for little eaters.
Even my 5 year old picky daughter wanted to try these, now she still doesn’t totally agree with them, but she’s 5. So she will come into loving this recipe with time just like we all have.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Can you bake these? Yes you can, preheat oven to 450 and place on baking sheet. Bake for about 5 minutes until pink and opaque (perfect for when the weather isn’t agreeing with you).
- You can make this shrimp marinade in a food processor if you don’t feel like chopping your cilantro, blend a few seconds until it all comes together.
- You technically can baste while the shrimp is grilling, but make sure that after you baste you heat on that side so it will kill off any bacteria from the marinade, or save some marinade before you add the shrimp themselves.
- We use large/extra large raw shrimp for this recipe with shell on. You can buy any shrimp you like, this recipe agrees with all of them.
