That isn’t something that you will see these days, but guess what! I’m giving you the recipe so you can make it yourself!

Hot Buttered Rum is one of those drinks that once September hits, we make them over and over again. They are just so good and so simple to make.
Honestly I just can’t get over the flavors of this recipe, all of them combined will literally just melt in your mouth, it’s smooth with sweetness which is the kind of drink I like.
HOW TO MAKE HOT BUTTERED RUM, STEP BY STEP:
- Place the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and allspice into a medium-sized bowl. Using a hand mixer, mix until combined. Place the mixture into the bottom of a heat-safe pitcher, set aside.
- Place the apple cider and water into a small saucepot. Bring it to a simmer. Pour into the pitcher with the butter mixture.
- Add the rum.
- Stir until combined.
- Pour into glasses.
- Top with whipped cream and more ground cinnamon, optional but highly encouraged.
This recipe makes two servings, or one if you really want to get frisky, but you can easily double or triple it to make a whole pitcher just calculate the recipe as needed.
We do this often this time of year, we like to have bonfires and people love sitting around a bonfire with a hot drink and this is one of them.
Some of our other favorite cool weather drinks include Slow Cooker Pumpkin Hot Chocolate, Mulled Wine and Chocolate Calda (Italian Hot Chocolate).
Not all of our drink preference are boozy, but this Hot Buttered Rum is one that we just can’t get enough of, I know I keep saying but trust me, you have to try it.
HOW TO STORE:
Not that you need to store this but you can just place in the refrigerator, I recommend having a covered container and it should last a day or two.
You can also make the batter for this (the brown sugar, butter and spice mix) ahead of time and you can refrigerate that for later use, it should last a week or two.
You can also freeze it by rolling it up in wax paper like butter or placing it in freezer jars and it should last for about 3 months.
If you want to switch it up you can substitute the rum for whiskey! We have done this a lot of the time and it still tastes amazing.
We have use also various types of rum for this, but Capitan Morgan is our favorite because it is a spiced rum so we always recommend using that.
But the world is your oyster and you can pretty much do whatever you want, we have created some fun cocktails just by switching out our liquors and experimenting;
