HOW TO MAKE A FUNFETTI MUG CAKE, STEP BY STEP:
- Spray the inside of a microwave safe mug with non-stick spray (you want to use a mug that holds at least 8 ounces).
- Add the cake mix, water, and applesauce to your mug.
- Stir the ingredients together until smooth. (You can add sprinkles on top before baking to add a bit of color!)
- Cook in the microwave at full power for 1 minute.
- Remove from the microwave and allow to cool slightly before eating.
- Garnish with whip cream, frosting or even ice cream and top with sprinkles!
I DON’T HAVE APPLESAUCE, WHAT CAN I USE?
You can use ยฝ Tablespoon of oil and 2 Tablespoons of water (instead of the 1 Tablespoon of water and applesauce listed above).
This will be sufficient liquid to replace the applesauce in the recipe!
MY CAKE SEEMS OVERDONE/UNDERDONE WHAT DID I DO WRONG?
Every microwave is just a little different just like every oven. You may need to adjust your cook time. When the top feels spongy and springs back, it is done.
WHAT OTHER ADD-INS CAN I USE?
You can easily change the flavor is by adding a Tablespoon of your favorite jelly/jam, dried, fresh, or canned fruit, pie filling, chopped nuts, coconut, caramel sauce, chopped candy bar, or chopped cookies.
WHAT SIZE MUG SHOULD I USE?
This requires that you use at least an 8 ounce mug. This may puff up over the top when it is cooking in the microwave, that is normal and will deflate slightly when removed.
