I’m a huge chocolate lover by nature. I also love me a good breakfast, so why not have both with these easy and tasty Chocolate Pancakes.
I will take chocolate in any form that I can get whether it be breakfast, cookies, bars cakes, etc. There’s just something about these pancakes that our family just can’t get enough of.
Also they have minimal ingredients and you can whip them up on the fly. I love recipes like these, especially since we usually already have all the ingredients handy anyways.
Pancakes are just a nice go-to that everyone seems to love, and switching up the flavors now and then is fun, that’s why we just cannot get enough of these Chocolate Pancakes.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM):
Egg
Milk
Salted butter
All-purpose flour
Baking powder
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Powdered sugar, optional
Chocolate syrup, optional
HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE PANCAKES, STEP BY STEP:
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg with the milk. Add in the melted butter and whisk until it is well combined.
- Add in the dry ingredients, whisking until the batter is completely mixed and there are no large clumps of flour or cocoa powder. Be careful to not overmix.
- Place a non-stick skillet on the stove over medium heat, using a ยผ cup measuring cup, measure the batter and pour over the hot skillet. (You can test the skillet by dropping a few drops of water)
- Cook until the small bubbles appear on the pancake, then flip to cook on the other side. Repeat with remaining batter.
- Remove from the pan and serve with powdered sugar and chocolate syrup if desired.
CAN I USE AN ELECTRIC SKILLET?
Yes! We have made these on the stove and in an electric skillet, if you are looking to make more than one at a time an electric skillet is the way to go.
You will want to preheat your skillet to 375 degrees F and add your batter and cook from there.
WHAT ADDITIONS CAN I ADD TO THESE CHOCOLATE PANCAKES?
So much fun can be had when adding additions to your pancake batter, some of our favorite additions include:
- Chocolate chips
- Bananas
- Blueberries
- Peanut Butter chips
- Raspberries
CAN I TOP THESE WITH ANYTHING ELSE?
Absolutely, we love the chocolate on chocolate for this recipe, but that is our own personal opinion. You can always do a vanilla sauce, marshmallow sauce, peanut butter, regular syrup, butter or just some powdered sugar.
Whatever you think would go well in topping these Chocolate Pancakes, I say go for it!
CAN I DOUBLE THIS RECIPE?
You can absolutely double or triple this recipe depending on how many people you are serving. This recipe makes about 8 medium to large pancakes.
HOW TO STORE:
These Chocolate Pancakes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 3-4 days.
They can also be frozen, place your pancakes in a freezer container and they will keep for up to 2 months.
To defrost, remove from the freezer onto the countertop until thawed. To reheat, place in the microwave until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Make sure you do not overmix the batter, it is ok to have some lumps.
- You can add additions to your pancakes, see some of my tips above.
- These can be made on an electric skillet at 375 degrees F.
