DO I HAVE TO USE A BELGIAN WAFFLE MAKER?
Nope. This recipe works great with a standard waffle maker or a Belgian waffle maker. You will just make a different sized waffle with a different amount from the batter you make.
WHAT ARE BELGIAN CHOCOLATE WAFFLES MADE OF?
These delicious waffles are made using a biscuit baking mix, cocoa powder, eggs, and a few additional ingredients to make them fluffy and insanely delicious.
Easy Chocolate Waffles have the perfect chocolatey flavor and you can personalize the toppings to include whatever you prefer.
WHAT TOPPINGS GO BEST WITH THESE CHOCOLATE WAFFLES?
Some great topping ideas to use with these chocolate waffles are: Whipped cream, powdered sugar, chocolate syrup, and additional chocolate chips.
You can also add on different fresh fruits like bananas, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.
HOW TO STORE:
Left waffles should be stored in an airtight container or ziptop bag in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 3 days.
I suggest storing the toppings separately from the waffles.
To reheat the waffles, pop them in a microwave for a few seconds until they’re warmed all the way through.
You can also freeze these waffles. Once they’ve cooled off, transfer them to a freezer safe bag or container and freeze for up to 3 months.
Defrost them in the refrigerator or on the counter until thawed before reheating.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- I used Bisquick baking mix, but you can use whatever brand you have.
- Don’t forget to spray the waffle iron in between waffles so they don’t stick.
- While adding the chocolate chips is an optional step, it really brings a fantastic chocolate flavor.
- While my waffles cooked in 2 minutes, yours may require more or less time, so use your first one as a trial and error to see how fast or slow your waffle iron works.
- You can freeze these, see above on how to do that.
- You can double or triple the recipe to make more waffles.
- Feel free to add a bunch of different toppings, don’t be afraid to experiment, some of my ideas are listed above!
