Donuts, do I need to say more? They are one of my favorite things in the world. We particularly like baked donuts.
They are super easy to make and take a lot less time than any traditional yeast donut recipe would, so they are are go-to when it comes to donuts.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- They take less than 20 minutes to make from start to finish.
- This is the perfect base recipe to dress up for different flavors.
- This recipe uses pantry staples that you would usually have on hand and no weird off the wall ingredients.
I think whenever I go the bakery I always grab myself a glazed donut, some of my favorite donut recipes include French Crullers, Lemon Baked Donuts and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Donuts.
Let’s just say that I’m a little donut crazy and these Chocolate Glazed Donuts are just the top of the iceberg when it comes to my obsession with them.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A DONUT PAN?
Donut pans are relatively inexpensive and are a fun kitchen item to have on hand if you are a donut fan, but what is you don’t own one?
If you don’t feel the need to purchase a pan here are some options:
- Muffin tin: Roll up foil into a log shape that is taller than your muffin wells and about 1โณ-1 1/2โณ in diameter and place it in the center of the well. While it doesnโt quite give you the right shape, it will still give you your donuts.
- Free form: Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and line with parchment paper then pipe your donut batter into circles about 2โณ apart on the tray and bake in oven.
- Holes: You can also always make donut holes with this recipe as well. Using a mini muffin tin, just fill the wells with batter and bake, checking for doneness after about 5-7 minutes.
There are different options if you don’t have a donut pan if you really want to make these Glazed Donuts, but seriously just buy one then you can make them all the time!
HOW TO STORE DONUTS:
While Donuts are one of those recipes that are best eaten the same day, there are ways that you can make that stretch just a little bit.
If you have some donuts leftover and don’t want them to go to waste the best way option that we have tried is wrap them in a napkin and place them in a paper bag overnight.
You could also store them in an airtight container as well, but we have the best luck with a napkin and a paper bag, a trick that was passed down from my grandma!
You can also make a bunch of different glazes for these Glazed Donuts and not just this chocolate version.
Like I said these are a super versatile recipe, you could do a vanilla glaze, coffee glaze, strawberry glaze, etc. There are so many different options.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- This recipe can be easily halved or doubled depending on the amount of people you are serving.
- Let them cool as much as possible before dipping them so the glaze doesn’t melt off the donuts.
- The glaze hardens (not too hard) quickly so do not make the glaze too far ahead of time.
- Place your donut batter in a piping bag and pipe into wells, this has always been our trick to get perfect, even donuts.
- This recipe is really a great basic donut base, you can add different flavors to it or fruits or chocolate chips etc.
If you want a fun and easy breakfast recipe these Chocolate Glazed Donuts are EXACTLY what you’ve been looking for! Simple, tasty and fun for everyone!
