With 3 ingredients and 5 minutes this Cherry Limeade is the perfect sweet and tart drink that you will fall in love with, easy and absolutely delicious.
It’s really hard to find drinks around here that my kids absolutely love, but when I whip up my Cherry Limeade recipe they all go nuts and it doesn’t last long.
I love that this recipe has minimal ingredients and whips up in minutes. The ingredients are easily accessible at the store and making this drink does not cost much at all.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With only 3 ingredients, this recipe is as simple as can be.
- Whipping up in under 5 minutes make it a quick and easy summertime or anytime drink.
- The ingredients pair perfect together with a mix of citrus and cherry flavors you get a little tart with a little sweet in each and every sip.
Sometimes there is not a lot to say with such a simple recipe, it’s hard to come up with the words to really explain on how the recipe is a keeper.
When it comes to this Cherry Limeade, there really are no words that have to explain why it is a keeper, it just is. The ease of it speaks volumes, plus it makes a bunch and not just a glass or two so the kids and adults can sip on it for awhile.
Unless your kids are like mine and are like fish and want all the drinks then this might not last more than a day.
HOW TO MAKE CHERRY LIMEADE, STEP BY STEP:
In large pitcher add your limeade, cherries and juice and then slowly pour in your 7-Up or Sprite (this is left to your preference) and mix until combined (Photos 1-4).
Pour into glasses with ice and garnish as desired, we like to add lime slices, mint and a few cherries on top.
My son is a big fan of the mint leaves, he likes to chew on them and add then to some of his summer drinks so he always insists I add this to our Cherry Limeade.
This recipe is perfect for gatherings, if you are serving a bunch of people you can easily double this recipe and put it into a large punch bowl to serve a crowd.
We like to make this for picnics and cookouts because it’s super kid friendly. Some of our other favorite kid-friendly drink recipes include Easy Raspberry Mango Ice Tea, Berry Agua Fresca and this Orange Creamsicle Drink.
So now I have never had the Sonic version of they’re Cherry Limeade but I’ve heard that this recipe is comparable.
Now I don’t have the means to make “pebble ice” around here, so we often use crushed ice, or even regular ice cubs will do, but crushed is my favorite.
Usually we add the crushed ice to the individual glasses, but you can also add it to the punch bowl or pitcher as well if it will be left out to serve.
If you plan to chill it in the refrigerator there should be no reason you would need to add the ice before you plan on serving in glasses.
What I like most about this Cherry Limeade recipe is the colors. I’m a sucker for bold colors in drinks, I feel like it makes it more enticing.
I know my kids are always curious when I make a colorful drink because “lemonade gets boring mom” has been reiterated into my brain more often then I would like to admit.
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR MAKING CHERRY LIMEADE:
- Defrost you limeade concentrate before adding to pitcher, it mixes better when partially thawed.
- Use cherries without stems, if you can only find stemmed cherries, remove the stems before adding them to the drink mix.
- Chill ingredients before adding them to the pitcher, this makes sure everything is already cool and ready to serve.
- If you can make make or find pebble ice, lots of people love that, but crushed ice or regular ice cubes work well.
- There is no need to add ice to the pitcher unless you are serving and leaving out, otherwise just add ice to individual glasses before serving.
- We use 7-Up in our recipe, but you can use any lemon lime pop such as Sprite or off brand lemon lime drinks.
This recipe has been favorite among our family for years and we make it all year round when we are able to find limeade in our freezer section, sometimes in the winter they don’t have it. Bummer.
But that is when we learned to stock up! That way we will always have the ingredients on hand, because summertime isn’t the only time we like to enjoy this delicious Cherry Limeade!

Sounds really good. Can this be used to make strawberry limeade?
Tornadough Alli
I have yet to try it that way, you can absolutely add fresh strawberries but to infuse the strawberry flavor in this I would puree at least 1-2 cups strawberries depending on your flavor preference and stir it in.
