- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let sit for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with more chopped pickles and sesame seeds if desired.
WHERE DID CHEESEBURGER PIE ORIGINATE?
Since this recipe uses Bisquick I do believe that many years ago it was a recipe that was featured on the back of the box. It was called something like Impossible Pie.
Since I grew up having this recipe I only have small memories of where my mom got the recipe to start off with but I remember she used to be big on making recipes on the back of boxes and cans.
WHAT CAN I ADD TO THIS PIE?
Sometimes we like to add cooked and chopped bacon to this recipe, to make it a Bacon Cheeseburger Pie. I really love bacon so we do this often.
We also add chopped pickles to this recipe but you could also add just pickle relish to it, sweet or dill.
WHAT IS A GREAT FOR TOPPING AND SERVING?
We like to add chopped pickles and sesame seeds to the top of this to make it more cheeseburger like. Parsley is also great and you could even add lettuce and chopped tomatoes to it after it’s baked.
Also, we serve it with ketchup and mustard just like we would a regular cheeseburger. Feel free to serve with any of your favorite dipping sauces, we always like to dip each bite.
HOW TO STORE:
This recipe can be stored in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap for up to 3-4 days.
This can also be frozen. To do this you can let your pie cool and then wrap in plastic wrap and then a layer of foil. This will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Let defrost in the refrigerator overnight and you can reheat at a low setting in the oven or in the microwave until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- We like to use a lean ground beef usually 85/15, this helps reduce grease.
- You can leave out anything in this recipe that you do not like.
- You can swap out the diced pickles for relish.
- Make sure you use freshly shredded cheese, it melts more evenly.
- This can be frozen, see my tips above.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
