HOW TO MAKE BROWNIE SUNDAE BOWLS, STEP BY STEP:
- Whisk together boxed brownie mix, eggs, oil, and water until fully combined in a large mixing bowl.
- Get waffle bowls out of the box and place all of them on a baking sheet.
- Cut 6 pieces of foil about 15 inches long and wrap the rim of each bowl tightly.
- Divide and pour the batter evenly between all 6 waffle bowls, they will each be about halfway full.
- Bake the brownie batter in the bowls for 25 minutes at 350F.
- Once they are done baking, remove them carefully from the oven and to a cooling rack for about 5 minutes before removing the foil.
- Then all you have to do is add your ice cream and just add your favorite toppings!
IS THE FOIL NECESSARY?
Yes, it is. It’s just like when you’re making a pie, covering the edges in foils protects it while it bakes and doesn’t let it become burnt. It also helps the bowls from spreading out and becoming a mess or losing their shape.
HOW DO YOU KEEP BROWNIES FROM DRYING OUT?
Some people have this problem if they’re leaving leftovers sit for too long. As these leftovers barely make it a day in our house, it’s not a problem for us often, but you can stick a piece of bread in with these bowls in the airtight container to help keep the brownies moist.
WHY ARE MY BROWNIES HARD?
This can happen for a variety of reasons, the most common being that the brownies were overbaked.
Rememeber, they’ll still bake for a little longer once you remove them from the oven as they sit to cool down. So if you leave them longer in the oven, this time increases.
It also can depend if you used old or poor quality ingredients. Use the freshest ingredients that you have on hand if possible.
HOW TO STORE:
Put your leftovers in an airtight container and store them on the counter for up to 5 days (without ice cream). You do not need to refrigerate these.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- I used Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies, but you can use whatever box mix, or make your own homemade mix. Just use whatever ingredients you normally would to make the boxed brownies that you choose.
- When eating the leftovers, microwave the brownie for 10-15 seconds to warm it back up and soften it a bit before adding ice cream and additional toppings.
- Don’t overbake the brownies.
- Don’t use bowls that have cracks in them, when you’re baking the brownies, the batter will seep through the cracks.
- Some recipes will tell you to make brownie bowls without the waffle bowl, but I find they can be really hard to get them out of the pan and feel like this method is better overall.
- Use any flavor ice cream and toppings that you choose! Be adventerous!

Where do you get the waffle bowls?
Tornadough Alli
We find ours at Walmart. They are usually available at any grocery store.

I’m confused about the foil….do you set the waffle bowl on the foil, bring it up to the rims of the bowls and cover the rims, or do you just use foil around the rims of the bowls so that no foil is covering any other part of the bowl? Seems like a lot of foil to use only on the rims. The recipe sounds really good, though, and I know my family would love them, so I’d ike to make them.
