Creamy, cheesy and full of bacon, this Bacon Pasta is a deliciously easy dinnertime recipe the whole family won’t be able to resist.
Pasta is one of my love languages, but when you add bacon it really sends that love over the top.
This Bacon Pasta is super easy, super creamy and just all around one of my favorite pasta recipes of all time.
With a creamy cheese sauce that also has a hint of bacon grease, you will absolutely fall in looooove.
This makes a great main dish, kids absolutely adore it because it is really basic but is also so full of flavor!
Also if you want to add a little heat, you can top it off with some red pepper flakes at the end.
If you’ve been looking for that one pasta that you will want to put on your menu rotation, this Bacon Pasta has to be it!
Some of my other favorite pasta recipes that we have on our site include: Garlic Butter Pasta, Tortellini Carbonara and Creamy Ground Beef Pasta.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- This is done in under 30 minutes.
- Easy ingredients help this come together.
- You can spice it up by adding some red pepper flakes.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST):
Spaghetti pasta
Olive oil
Bacon
Heavy whipping cream
Unsalted butter
Garlic
Parmesan cheese
Salt
Fresh ground black pepper
Fresh parsley, finely chopped for garnish
Red pepper flakes, optional
HOW TO MAKE BACON PASTA, STEP BY STEP:
- Prepare the spaghetti al dente according to the package directions. Drain, then mix in olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, then remove bacon from skillet, reserving 2 tablespoons bacon fat in skillet.
- Add butter to skillet over medium-low heat and cook until melted.
- Add garlic and cook for about a minute.
- Gently stir in heavy whipping cream, bring to a simmer, then simmer for 4 minutes, stirring often, until beginning to thicken.
- Mix in parmesan, bacon, salt, and pepper and allow to simmer for an additional 3 minutes, or until cheese is melted completely and sauce is smooth.
- Mix in prepared spaghetti, top with extra bacon, fresh parsley, ground black pepper, additional shredded Parmesan, red pepper flakes (if using) then serve.
IS THIS REALLY SALTY?
It does have salt in the ingredients but not overly salty in my personal opinion.
When adding any salt to this dish, remember the bacon, bacon grease, and parmesan already add a lot of salt flavor, so use sparingly.
CAN I USE ANOTHER TYPE OF PASTA?
If you are not wanting to use spaghetti you can use other types of pasta as well. Some ideas include:
- Rotini
- Penne
- Linguine
- Fettuccine
- Bowtie
- Spiral
You can use any of your favorite smaller pastas for this recipe, just make sure you are still using the same amount called for in the original recipe.
WHAT ELSE CAN I ADD TO THIS RECIPE?
There are other ingredients you can add if you want it to be a little heartier, we like to add frozen peas and sauteed mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes would work well too.
WHAT CAN I SERVE WITH THIS BACON PASTA?
This is a nice basic pasta dish that many different things can be served alongside it, some of my favorites include:
HOW TO STORE:
This can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where it will keep for up to 4-5 days.
We do not recommend freezing this pasta.
To reheat, place in the microwave until heated through.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Make sure to leave some bacon grease in the pan when you add your butter.
- Use salt sparingly since there is already salt in the bacon and cheese.
- You can use dried parsley but add it in when you add the bacon back in.
- Other pasta can be used, see above on how to do that.
- We do not recommend freezing this recipe.
- Easily double this recipe to serve more people.
- Add in some peas, mushrooms or sun-dried tomatoes for a heartier element.

I LOVE pasta! I love that you use butter in your recipe. Some recipes use olive oil. I am a firm believer in, BUTTER makes EVERYTHING better! I must make a quick trip to the grocery store and get the ingredients that I don’t currently have on hand. This will be MY special treat this evening. Yum! ๐
