I always find the freeze-dried fruit where you would find the raisins and such and they have so many different types, this would be good with strawberry as well.
So you keep hearing me talk about Galentine’s Day. Trust me, it is a thing! Just simply google it and you will find out, but I’m going to tell you.
WHAT IS GALENTINE’S DAY?
So kind of a funny story, so Galentine’s Day is that day before Valentine’s Day so February 13th. It is a day that you are supposed to celebrate your gal pals with love whether they’re single or not.
This day was made up 10 years ago on an episode of Park’s and Recreation where Leslie (a character on the show) gathers up all her girl friends for a brunch of waffles and love and coined the name Galentine’s Day.
So pretty much summed up, single or not it is the day you get together with your closest girl friends and just celebrate the love you have for one another.
And that’s why I also call these treats Galentine’s Rice Krispie Treats because what girl wouldn’t love these flirty little raspberry chocolate love bars?
HOW TO MAKE VALENTINE’S RICE KRISPIE TREATS, STEP BY STEP:
- Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat then add in 8 cups of mini marshmallows and stir constantly until melted.
- Remove from heat and mix in the cereal, freeze-dried raspberries, and remaining marshmallows and stir until evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan and use a piece of parchment paper between your hands and the mixture to gently press it into the pan. Don’t press too hard or the Rice Krispies treats could end up hard.
- Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before slicing. After slicing, melt the chocolate melting wafers in a medium flat-bottomed bowl at 30-second intervals, stirring between each one until completely melted.
- Dip the bottoms of each of the treats in the white chocolate and place on a piece of wax or parchment paper to set. If you have any excess white chocolate you can drizzle it over the top of the treats and top with sprinkles if desired. Let the treats cool and set for an additional 30 minutes before enjoying.
See how easy it is to make these Galentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treats, they are effortless, but we all know that these treats pretty much are, thats why they are one of the most made bars around.
But this twist on them will have you hooked in no time, trust me! They had me hooked from first bit.
Just look at the beautiful color these Valentine’s Rice Krispie Treats give of, those freeze-dried raspberries don’t just pull off the flavor, they set off the color as well.
I think these treats are absolutely beautiful so this year I’m going to be making them for both Galentine’s Day and Valentine’s Day because I know a variety of people will love them
They are just a super fun treat to whip up and even tastier to devour. I alone have to at least have 2 in one sitting, there is no way that I can just stop at one! It is almost impossible for me!
Some of my other favorite treats that I would definitely serve for my Galentin’s Day party with my pals or regular Valentine’s would include:
- Moscato Strawberries
- Champagne Cupcakes
- Valentines’s Sprinkle Cookies
- Raspberry Sorbet Pink Champagne Floats
- White Chocolate Raspberry Truffles
I mean how can you celebrate this day without going all out on the treats, the booze, everything that brings out the illusion of love, love for friends or significant others!
HOW TO STORE:
You can store these Rice Krispie Treats at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days, if you cut them you can either leave them in the pan or stack them separated by parchment paper.
You can also freeze these, place cut bars in an airtight container separated by parchment paper and they will last for up to 6 weeks, defrost at room temperature.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- By dividing the marshmallows and adding a couple of cups of them in at the end it means that they hold their shape and you get little pockets of marshmallows in the treats.
- However, you can omit the extra 2 cups of marshmallows, if desired. But DO NOT melt them in or you will get a thick marshmallow layer that settles in the bottom of the pan and treats.
- You can use aluminum foil instead of parchment paper to line your pan but it is very important that you spray the aluminum foil with nonstick spray, otherwise the treats will stick to it.
- I get my freeze-dried fruit at Target or Walmart carries them too.
- These can be frozen, see my tips above.
- You can create a lot of different flavor combinations with this recipe, another favorite of mine is freeze-dried strawberries and milk chocolate.
- This recipe can easily be doubled to serve larger crowds.
