Chocolate Mousse is one of my favorite desserts ever. It is super easy to whip up and everyone loves this simple dessert! We make it all the time and it never get’s old.
This is such an easy and family friendly dessert recipe, I haven’t had any of my family members complain about this one at all, they love how light and fluffy it is.
You can really dress up or dress down this Easy Chocolate Mousse any way that you like. We like to top with some chocolate chips and whatever fruit we have on hand.
But you can absolutely leave it plain or add whatever you want to the top if anything. Raspberries are my favorite, I just love the raspberry and chocolate flavor together so thats one of my go-to choices.
Some of my other favorite chocolate desserts that I have on my site include Chocolate Pudding, Chocolate Raspberry Cake and Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies.
WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:
- With minimal ingredients and time, it is super easy to whip up.
- You can double or halve this recipe depending on how many you’re serving.
- You can make this keto by swapping out one ingredient!
This Easy Chocolate Mousse is really such a simple recipe with simple ingredients that are either already in your pantry or easy to find.
This is why we make it so much is because we always have the ingredients on hand all the time, I’m a baker by nature so its rare I don’t have any baking ingredient handy.
HOW TO MAKE EASY CHOCOLATE MOUSSE, STEP BY STEP:
- To a chilled mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract.
- Use an electric hand mixer on medium-high speed to whip the cream to stiff peaks, about 2-3 minutes.
- Sift the cocoa powder, powdered sugar and espresso powder into the bowl over the whipped cream.
- Gently scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula and one to two folds incorporate the ingredients. Beat on medium for about 10-30 seconds until you have a mousse uniform in color and texture.
See how easy that is? I mean effortless right? You can serve this right away or chill for about 3o minutes and then serve to thicken it up a little bit.
HOW DO I MAKE THIS KETO?
This Chocolate Mousse can easily be made keto by changing just one ingredient, instead of regular powdered sugar you can swap that out with a zero calorie powdered sugar like swerve.
We like to use swerve because it really doesn’t create a flavor difference and it is our go-to sweetener for this recipe.
You can also swap out the chocolate chips with keto chocolate chips if you are wanting to use those on top as well, otherwise the remaining ingredient amounts make this a keto friendly recipe.
So if your resolution for the year is to eat a little healthier this Easy Chocolate Mousse can do that for you by making these easy swaps without loosing the delicious flavor.
Sometimes we do it just because I like to have some healthier dessert recipes around, but I myself don’t follow a strict keto diet nor have I, but know this is keto friendly by talking to friends who do follow that diet.
Look at that delicious fluffiness! You cannot go wrong with Chocolate Mousse ever in my personal opinion, it is so tasty and it goes good by itself or served over things.
Some things that we like to serve it or in include trifles, over some granola, crushed up cookies and served over it, sometimes we like add it to our ice cream as a topping.
It really is a good base recipe that you can add to a lot of things and serve a lot of different ways, the creativity is really up to you.
DO I NEED A HAND MIXER?
A hand mixer really helps in making this Easy Chocolate Mousse Recipe, if you have a stand mixer, you can use that as well.
If you have a whisk, it will still work, but you will get some serious arm workout, but I mean then you really know that it is made with love!
HOW TO STORE:
Because this recipe does use heavy whipping cream you will need to store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
It will keep in the refrigerator for up too 4-5 days maximum, do not go over that time or it can become watery and break down.
You can also freeze this recipe, store in an airtight container and place in the freezer, it should keep for up to 4 months, let thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
