A fun and flavorful dinner time meal this Taco Spaghetti takes two of your favorite dishes and combines them into one making a delicious recipe the whole family enjoys!
I love tacos and I love pasta, so why not combine the two and make this Taco Spaghetti? This is a recipe that we have been making for a long time, it is one the whole family loves.
It is super easy to make and makes the perfect weeknight meal to get dinner on the table quickly and have the whole family beg for seconds.
My kids are like me, they all love tacos and pasta so this Taco Spaghetti is one of their favorites. Especially since they get sick of having the normal spaghetti and tacos all the time.
This is a great compromise between the two and has all the flavor, that is one thing that this is not lacking on is flavor. With the spices and sauce it really brings it over the top.
Top with all your favorite taco toppings and you have yourself a meal that you can customize and be over the moon with and absolutely fill you up.
So if you have a family who is arguing on what you should make for dinner this Taco Spaghetti is the great compromise that will keep everyone happy.

HOW TO MAKE TACO SPAGHETTI, STEP BY STEP:
- In a large skillet with deep sides, brown the meat with the onion over medium heat, breaking up the meat into crumbles and stirring occasionally until there is no pink left. About 5-8 minutes.
- Add the taco seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Stir until combined and cook until fragrant, stirring constantly, about 30 seconds.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and cilantro, stir it in until combined.
- Turn down the heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
- While the sauce is simmering, cook the noodles. Once the sauce is done simmering, add the noodles directly to the skillet with the sauce and stir them in until combined. I find using tongs helps.
- Serve immediately with taco toppings of your choice.
I’M NOT A FAN OF CRUSHED TOMATOES, WHAT ELSE CAN I USE?
Tomato sauce can be used in the place of crushed. You can also add a can of rotel tomatoes, the possibilities are endless!
DO I HAVE TO USE SPAGHETTI?
This will work with pretty much any pasta that you’d like. We like spaghetti because that is just how we have always made it but we have used other pastas before.
Some examples of others that will work fine would be penne, rotini, cavatappi, farfalle, shells, etc. Just use what you have on hand! Just make sure that it is the same amount as listed in the recipe!
CAN I THINK OUT THIS SAUCE?
This does make a thick sauce, if you prefer a slightly thinner sauce while adding the noodles add some of the pastaโs cooking water to about ยผ-ยฝ cup or to your preference. The photos show no additional liquid added.
CAN OTHER MEATS BE USED?
Yes! If you are not in a ground beef mood you can use italian sausage, ground turkey or ground chicken to switch up the flavors in this recipe. All of the work really well.
HOW TO STORE:
This can be stored in an airtight container where it will keep in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
This can also be frozen, to do that place your cooled spaghetti in a freezer container and it will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove from freezer to your refrigerator overnight and then you can warm up in the microwave.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Switch up your meats for a different flavor.
- This can be frozen, see my tips above.
- Other pastas can be used, see above for some ideas.
- Top with any of your favorite taco toppings to make it your own.
- If the sauce is too thick you can thin it, see above on how we do that.
- Tomato sauce or rotel can replace the crushed tomatoes.
Love tacos and pasta but don’t know which one to make? Why not combine the two and make this delicious Taco Spaghetti, it will become a regular weeknight staple!
