WHAT FLAVOR OF SPARKLING WATER SHOULD I USE?
For this recipe, I used plain sparkling water, but sometimes Iโll sub whatever flavor I have on hand. Lime, cucumber, berry, and lemon would all be delicious options to try out.
Give one a whirl, itโs fun to experiment and find new favorite drink recipes. Whatever you go with I’m sure it will pair perfectly as strawberry goes with so many things.
DO I HAVE TO USE RUM AND THE STRAWBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP?
Nope! Guys, you could use vodka or tequila instead of rum. And you can use plain or lime simple syrup, but I love the way the homemade strawberry simple syrup complements the whole drink.
But, you do you, make this drink how you want it! This is a great base recipe to start with and then play with it a bit to craft a new favorite.
I would make the simple syrup ahead of time and store in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it. I wouldnโt recommend making anything else ahead of time.
CAN I MAKE A LARGE BATCH?
That’s what I love about my cocktail recipes, I always keep in mind how I can make them for serving at parties. You know we are always the party house and I somehow always end up bartending, so having a few fun recipes like this in my arsenal is always a good idea.
To make a big batch, all you have to do is scale this recipe to make larger batches for a pitcher.
Keep in mind that, unless you are planning on pouring the drinks immediately from the pitcher, I would wait to add the sparkling water until the drink will be served. Nobody wants a watery Strawberry Mojito!
HOW TO STORE:
This drink is best enjoyed right when you make it. I don’t recommend making the whole thing and storing it for later, in fact, once you add the sparking water you really should just drink it.
If you want to make a large batch and use it later, check out my tips above.
And for any extra simple syrup, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Great for making more homemade drinks again later!
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use store-bought simple syrup if desired.
- You can make larger batches of these delicious mojitos, check out my tips above.
- No muddler? No problem! There are various other tools you can use, try a spoon, the bottom of a wooden spoon, a mortar and pestle, or a wooden skewer.
- You can make this a kid-friendly drink, or just a non-alcoholic drink for those who choose not to drink, by simply leaving out the alcohol, that’s what I do when I want to enjoy one when I don’t want any alcohol.
- Wait to add the sparkling water until you’re ready to drink it!
