- Into the same bowl, add the ice water and continue to whisk until it combines and starts to thicken slightly.
- Fold in the whipped topping until smooth and combined.
- Place the mixture in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes until it starts to thicken.
- Remove from the refrigerator and add the filling to the graham cracker crust and smooth out the top.
- Place in the refrigerator and chill for about 4 hours or overnight is best, until set.
- Serve with whipped cream and fresh strawberries if desired.
CAN I USE OTHER JELLO FLAVORS?
Strawberry not your thing? You can absolutely switch it up using other flavors with this exact same recipe! Some other flavors that you can try include:
- Lime
- Cherry
- Orange
- Lemon
- Grape
Really, I would try them all – you really cannot go wrong with a good Jello Pie recipe.
DO I HAVE TO USE A GRAHAM CRACKER PIE CRUST?
While we use this as it is convenient and we are looking for the two extra servings in the pie crust itself you can make your own.
If you want to switch it up you can use vanilla wafers in a deeper pie dish, that will taste great with this pie as well.
If you really want to try something different you can try a chocolate graham cracker crust or even an Oreo crust.
CAN I ADD ANYTHING INTO THIS PIE?
If you do want to add anything into the pie itself I would recommend either mini marshmallows or even some diced strawberries.
While we love the silky pie itself, adding in some texture contrast is a fun idea too!
HOW LONG DOES THIS STRAWBERRY JELLO PIE NEED TO SET?
I know waiting for a dessert can be hard, but it is absolutely worth it. This pie needs to chill for at least 4 hours but overnight is best.
This is what makes this a great make ahead dessert since you can make it the day before.
HOW TO STORE:
This pie can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container or with a lid where it will keep for up to 3-4 days.
You can also freeze this pie, place in a freezer safe container and it will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator until thawed and then cut and serve. You can also serve this frozen too.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Switch up your jello flavors, see some of my suggestions above.
- If you want to make your own homemade whipped topping you can, but we feel like store-bought holds up better.
- This can be frozen, see above on how to do that.
- Add in some mini marshmallows or diced strawberries for a little texture contrast.
- Switch up the crust by using vanilla wafers, chocolate graham cracker or even an Oreo crust.
- Make sure that you are using a pie crust that says 2 extra servings.
