Creamy, flavorful and addicting this Sausage Pesto Pasta is a quick and easy dinnertime recipe that whips up in no time and feeds a crowd.
Are you a pesto lover? We are in this house! We love to put it on all the things! But one of our most favorite recipes to use it on is this Sausage Pesto Pasta!
We also are huge pasta lovers around here, I mean really, who isn’t. But pasta is one of my husbands favorite meals of all time, so it’s almost always made once a week around our house.
I actually have been making this pesto pasta recipe for quite a few years and it kinda just happened by accident. I mean I was hungry, I was cleaning out the fridge and it happened. It was like a happy accident.
An accident that we are super super happy that we continued making all these years because it is addicting. The kids adore it (that doesn’t happen too often) and it’s quick, just the kind of recipe we need for our family.
WHAT IS PESTO?
Traditional pesto is made from olive oil, pine nuts, basil, garlic and parmesan cheese. Of course there are so many different variations of the recipe! You can find a good homemade recipe here!
WHAT KIND OF PASTA GOES BEST WITH PESTO?
So I’m a a believer that any pasta is a good choice but I like to go with spiral or ribbed pasta when it comes to a cream sauce because it seems to hold onto the sauce well. It gets in the little nooks and crannies and just makes the perfect combination.
HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS SAUSAGE PESTO PASTA?
So like I stated above, this recipe is SUPER simple. You start with cooking your pasta according to package directions, in this case we use cavatapi (spiral noodles). Drain, and set aside. You know, the usual.
Then you brown up some pork sausage, yes pork sausage. You can use Italian sausage as well, but we have always used pork sausage and the flavors of that just really meld well with this overall dish.
Drain your sausage and add in heavy cream and parmesan cheese and simmer for a bit to thicken up, Then you stir in some pesto and toss in your noodles.
How can you get any more simple than that! I mean come on! And trust me when I say that this Sausage Pesto Pasta is to die for. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but oh those flavors!!
So if you’re looking for an easy peasy weeknight dish then this recipe is the exact one that you are looking for!

Oh. My. Gosh. I LOVE the Sausage Pesto Pasta because itโs simple to make, and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, I was unable to find spiral pasta at the grocery store and used bow ties instead. The dish is rich, decadent, creamy and so on point. Iโm looking forward to enjoy this pasta for my lunch this week.
Thank you so much and this is the first recipe that I made from your blog. โบ๏ธ
