Breakfast is the most important part of the day and these Salted Caramel Rolls are a surefire hit at the table. Sweet and salty makes this the perfect morning treat.
I’m addicted to any and all things salted caramel. Plus who doesn’t love a good old cinnamon roll? So mash those two together and you get yourself some seriously addicting Salted Caramel Rolls.
Now I don’t know about you, but I cant ever choose between a sweet and a savory breakfast. So we switch between the two a lot of the time making my Oatmeal Pancakes, these caramel rolls and my Southwest Avocado Toast!
My kids are big breakfast eaters. I also grew up to my mom making big breakfasts every weekend. Now I may not make the big breakfasts all the time, but when I do I really go all out.
When we go to the bakeries the first thing that usually gets chosen is caramel rolls. There is something about the sweet sticky goodness that just draws us in and we can never get out of that addiction.
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU NEED?
- Flour
- Yeast
- Milk
- Butter
- Egg
- Brown Sugar
- Corn syrup
- Cinnamon
- Sugar
- Sea Salt
These caramel rolls are perfect for breakfast, brunch or dessert. They are also perfect for that bring along treat for get togethers because they never as long.
Trust me when I say that I’m famous for my caramel rolls around these parts.
These ooey gooey goodness literally just is too addicting to even describe! I don’t like to toot my own horn a lot of the time, but this is one of the things I make that I really am addicted too!
The salt on the caramel really make these what they are. They are filled with a little bit of salt and then sprinkled, and it really gives it the perfect sweet and salty combos.
HOW TO MAKE CARAMEL ROLLS:
- In bowl of a stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/4 cup sugar and salt.
- In a sauce pan melt your butter and milk together and set aside to cool to 110 degrees then stir in your yeas and let proof for 5-10 minutes.
- Once yeast has proofed add your milk and butter mixture along with your egg to flour mix and with dough hook attachment combine, adding 1/2 cup flour at a time until dough starts to pull away from bowl.
- Once combined add to large bowl greased with non-stick cooking spray and let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Meanwhile spray a 9″x13″ baking pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- In small bowl, combine butter, brown sugar and corn syrup until blended and spread mixture evenly into pan and spread until bottom is covered, sprinkle with salt.
HOW TO ASSEMBLE:
- Once dough has risen punch it down and dump out onto lightly floured surface and roll dough into about a 15″x12″ rectangle.
- Spread with butter and in small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon then sprinkle evenly over dough and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Starting with longer side side, roll up tightly and cut into 12 equal slices and place into pan on top of caramel mixture.
- Cover and let rise again until double in size, about an hour.
- Once your rolls have risen for a second time preheat your oven to 375 and bake rolls for about 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Remove from oven and let rest for a minute before turning onto serving tray or baking sheet.
- Sprinkle with additional sea salt and enjoy.
I know that caramel or cinnamon rolls can be a lengthy process but it is seriously 100% worth it. There is nothing like the smell of baking rolls that really get your stomach grumbling, at least that is me!
