DO I HAVE TO USE RICE KRISPIES?
While it is traditional for this recipe and is what we have used most of the time, you can also use corn flakes if you desire.
They might not come out exactly tasting the same or the same texture but they still are amazing.
WHAT IS THE BEST CHOCOLATE TO USE?
I prefer to use chocolate melting wafers for this recipe, they are specifically used for coating things like this.
If you do use chocolate chips, then I would suggest using a high quality semi-sweet chocolate chip and add in some shortening or coconut oil when melting so they melt better and are easier to dip.
CAN I USE CHUNKY PEANUT BUTTER?
If you want some added texture and flavor to your Rice Krispie Peanut Butter Balls, you absolutely can use chunky peanut butter.
We will be melting the peanut butter so it is easier to work with, which will make it easier for the peanut chunks to move throughout the mixture.
HOW LONG DO THESE NEED TO BE REFRIGERATED?
Before coating you will want to refrigerate for about 30 minutes so they are hard enough to dip and will not fall apart.
The same with after they are coated, refrigerate for roughly 20 minutes so the coating hardens.
HOW TO STORE:
These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 1 week.
They can also be frozen, place in a freezer bag or container and they will keep frozen for up to 3 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator until thawed and then to room temperature when you are ready to serve.
