Who doesn’t love fried chicken? How about a slightly healthier version with this easy Oven Fried Chicken recipe! You’ll never go back!
So we are a chicken loving family over here. I mean we have always been KFC lovers, not going to lie. I mean their secret spices, they really know what they’re doing over there.
But sometimes you want good fried chicken at home, but there is also times when you really don’t want to have to heat up the deep fryer or a pan of oil if you know what I mean.
I’m going to admit something to you, in April I burnt my finger really bad where I had to go to urgent care and have it washed and wrapped for a few weeks. I was told I had second degree burns and while there won’t be any scaring the skin tone will never be the same.
So after that incident happened I have been trying to stay away from the deep fryer as much as possible. I mean don’t get me wrong I love fried foods, but sometimes it only takes one incident that makes you super nervous about something and this is what did it for me.
So instead of frying we like to make things baked. We used to make this Oven Baked Chicken back in the day, but switched to deep frying when we were on our fryer kick but have since went back to this recipe and I have forgotten how much I loved it.
You guys will hopefully love this Oven Fried Chicken recipe as well! Since you are not frying it in oil it is essentially a healthier version of your traditional fried chicken, and I mean we can never pass up a healthier version of anything, especially when it tastes the exact same.
My kids prefer this recipe over all of them. They always ask for more, so we usually do a double batch when its fried chicken night in our household because this stuff doesn’t last long!
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU NEED?
- 1 whole chicken, cut 8 pieces (you can buy this in the deli section at your grocer)
- Flour
- Egg
- Milk
- Hot sauce
- Garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
- Seasoning salt
- Butter
So I don’t think there is really a science to this recipe, we kind of just started throwing together spices until we found a combination and amount that we really truly liked.
My secret though is adding a little hot sauce to the egg and milk mixture. It really gets into the meat and gives it just that much more flavor, and who doesn’t love flavor.

This recipe I think is quicker than regular fried chicken and has less of a mess so to speak, I mean I don’t like cleaning up after deep frying, it always gets a little too messy for my liking so this oven baked fried chicken method is our go to way.
This feeds a crowd and usually you will never have any leftovers because everyone loves this recipe, so if you’re looking for the perfect “fried” chicken recipe then you need to give this one a go!
