Lemon is one of my favorite flavors, and these Lemon Drop Shots absolutely do not disappoint on that at all. They are super easy to throw together and are a nice and easy shot to go down.
With a nice sugary punch from the rimmed shot glasses, you get a sweetness to every single shot. These are really easy to double if you are throwing a party or serving more people.
Also with minimal and usually on hand ingredients, these come together in no time. This is the perfect summer shot, although I love lemon all year long.
Refreshing and easy is how I like things and these Lemon Drop Shots fit that bill exactly. You and your guests will love these and they will become a party time staple.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM):
Ice
Vodka
Lemon juice
Simple syrup
Lemon wedges for garnish, optional
Granulated sugar, for rimming glasses
HOW TO MAKE LEMON DROP SHOTS, STEP BY STEP:
- In a cocktail shaker or glass (whatever you have on hand works), add the ice, vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shake lightly to mix the ingredients together.
- Dip each of the rims of the shot glasses in lemon juice.
- Then in the granulated sugar making sure to coat the glasses well and evenly.
- Divide the shot mixture between 4-5 (1.5-2 ounce) shot glasses and top with a lemon wedge, if desired.
HOW MANY SHOTS DOES THIS MAKE?
This will make 4-5 shots if you are using 1.5-2 ounce shot glasses. If you are using 1.25 ounce shot glasses then you will most likely have a little bit more or a little more alcohol leftover.
WHAT KIND OF LEMON JUICE SHOULD I USE?
We like to use fresh squeezed lemon juice for this recipe, but if you are in a pinch you can use bottled lemon juice.
WHAT KIND OF VODKA IS BEST?
You can use any of your favorite vodkas for this recipe, we used Smirnoff for this particular recipe. Some other good vodkas that you can use include:
- Grey Goose
- Tito’s
- Svedka
- Absolut
- Kettle One
- Pinnacle
DO I HAVE TO USE THE SIMPLE SYRUP?
The simple syrup adds some sweetness to these Lemon Drop Shots, you do not have to use it but you will want to replace it. You can use lemon lime soda in its place.
HOW TO STORE:
I do not recommend storing this recipe, but you can make it ahead and keep it in the cocktail shaker refrigerated until ready to serve.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Fresh squeezed lemon juice is the best, but you can use bottled in a pinch.
- You can substitute lemon lime soda for the simple syrup.
