- Start by adding ice to a cocktail glass. Pour in the vodka, grenadine, and lime juice.
- Top with lemon-lime soda and add cherries and limes for garnish, serve and enjoy.
WHAT IS A DIRTY SHIRLEY?
A Dirty Shirley is like a Shirley Temple but with alcohol. It’s made using Cherry vodka, Grenadine, Lime juice, Lemon-lime soda, and Maraschino cherries and Limes for garnish.
It became a popular summer drink, after the Espresso Martini which was popular in the Summer of 2021.
CAN I MAKE THESE AHEAD?
You can make these Dirty Shirley’s ahead of time. In fact, you can scale this recipe up to make a pitcher of Dirty Shirley Cocktails. Then store it in the refrigerator for up to a few hours. Pour over ice when you’re ready to serve.
DO I HAVE TO USE CHERRY VODKA?
Using Cherry flavored vodka just adds to the flavor profile theme of this cocktail. But you can use plain vodka, whipped vodka, or vanilla vodka instead and it’ll still work well.
HOW TO STORE:
These Dirty Shirley Cocktails are best when you drink them right when you make them. If you want to make a big batch, wait to use ice and follow the directions above. Store in the refrigerator for up to a few hours.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- You can use ginger ale in place of the lemon-lime soda if desired.
- For more of an alcohol kick, use triple sec instead of the fresh-squeezed lime juice.
- I think the layering effect you can make with this drink is very beautiful, but, you can also stir everything together.
- If scaling to make a pitcher drink, wait to add ice and just pour the pitcher over ice in cocktail glasses.
- This drink is best enjoyed right when you make it, so drink up!
