HOW TO MAKE INSTANT POT BEEF AND BROCCOLI, STEP BY STEP:
- Season the beef chuck roast with pepper. Cut beef against the grain, into thin strips. Set aside.
- Pour the olive oil into the instant pot and turn on the sautรฉ function. When the oil is hot, add the beef strips (in batches, if necessary, we donโt want to crowd it).
- Let the beef to brown on all sides, this will take roughly 5-10 minutes.
- While the beef is browning, prepare the sauce. In a medium sized bowl, add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, and garlic.
- Stir this mixture together until combined. Set aside.
- When the beef is browned, add the beef broth to the pot. Make sure to scrape up any bits of beef that are stuck to the bottom of the pot.
- Next, add the sauce to the pot and stir well. Switch off the sautรฉ function.
- Place the lid on and seal the pot and set to cook on high pressure for 10 minutes. Once done, use the quick pressure release.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water together to create a slurry. Stir the slurry mixture into in the instant pot. Turn back on the sautรฉ function and bring this mixture to a boil.
- Next, add the broccoli to the pot.
- Stir in, then place the lid on and allow this to boil for 3 minutes then turn off the sautรฉ function. With the pot turned off, allow the mixture to sit for about 5 more minutes, or until the broccoli reaches your desired crispness.
- Serve with rice, sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
DO I HAVE TO USE A CHUCK ROAST?
If you do not like a chuck roast, or cannot find one you can also use flank steak, flat iron, london broil or a sirloin steak if you like.
You can also use chicken in this recipe if you’d like! Who doesn’t love a Chicken and Broccoli recipe as well, you will want to use the same amount of chicken, and substitute the beef broth with chicken broth.
CAN I DOUBLE THIS RECIPE?
Absolutely, if you are serving a larger crowd you can double this recipe no problem with it fitting into the instant pot. You shouldn’t need more time to cook the recipe, it will just take more time to come to pressure.
WHAT OTHER VEGETABLES CAN I ADD TO THIS?
If you are a huge fan of veggies then you can absolutely add more, some of our favorites include:
- Matchstick carrots
- Onions
- Mushrooms
- Baby corn
- Bell peppers
WHAT TO SERVE WITH BEEF AND BROCCOLI?
We personally love serving this with some cooked white rice. Brown rice would be great as well, you can also use some noodles, cauliflower rice, etc to serve alongside this.
While this is great just by itself, if you want to make it a meal, then you will want to add some substance to go along with it as well.

This can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where it will keep for up to 3-4 days.
You can also freeze this Beef and Broccoli Recipe. Place in a freezer container or bag and place in the freezer where it will keep for up to 2 months.
To defrost, remove to the refrigerator overnight until thawed, reheat in the microwave until just heated through.
